LOL! Hopefully she doesn't read this board, or she just might wonder about checking in while she's in labor...

But glad you did just the same! Check back in after she and the baby have nodded off so you can fill us in on the particulars.

5:43 p.m. EST. Nothing much happening yet. Water broke hours ago. Lot's of contractions, but nothing special. I came back down to the cafeteria to eat again because every time I do, something happens. The first time was this morning when she told me to go eat. So I went to have a couple of donuts and a coffee. I'm sitting there reading one of those medical pamphlets about some new procedure or another when a nurse comes up and informs me that everyone is waiting for me. We go back up to the room and the doctor asks: "How many donuts did you have?" Heck! She's the one who told me to go eat donuts in the first place! It wasn't my idea. Anyway, the room was full of nurses and nursing students all looking at me like I'm a loser! That's when they turned the baby.

Then she sent me out to get lunch. When I came back they were administering her epidural and the nurse told me I couldn't be in the room for it.

Now she sent me out to eat dinner. I told her I would go only because something seems to happen every time I eat. So here's hoping!

Man, that viral marketing business really works, even for something like exposing people to a little cultural anthropology ... ;-)

Madeline Elizabeth Madden was born at 8:14 p.m. EST. She was 8 lbs 2 oz and 20 inches long. Unfortunately, she had to be taken by C-Section. Even after having successfully turned her around in-utero, the doctor discovered that the cord was bent over on itself near her head and that a vaginal delivery would have compressed the cord during birth and caused an emergency.

But, she is here and she is healthy and Mom is recovering well, too.

Thanks to everyone for listening to all this and chiming in. It's nice that this photo site is also a real online community.

I'll upload a photo or two whenever I manage to get back home. We're all still in the hospital.

Congratulations. I remember our first daughter coming in a very similar fashion - she was worth it all. Now I have two. You will have fun.
