I have taught my son what PC and MAC mean....so everytime he and I see the commercials, we laugh alot. Since PC means PiecaCrap and Mac is Majorly Awesome Computer! Just funny with him thinking them all saying..I'm a P(ieca)C(rap). Now there is Mac a new commercial. LOL

I really have no opinion on this subject â€Â¦ But all I know is that PCs seem to spell trouble for "non-computer people".

My mother-in-law already spent any money she saved NOT buying a mac (like I told her to) â€Â¦
on a "PC repair guy". This is an argument that can go on forever â€Â¦ but low-end users need something that doesn't get viruses and that is ready to go out of the box:

 aka: imac.

All Macs run Unix anyway, so what's the big deal? |

For what it's worth, my mother-in-law replaced her PC with an iBook believing that they are "so easy to use" and it would magically enable her to do all sorts of wonderful things on a computer.
Problem is, she already learned how to do some basic things on a PC and she got very frustrated having to "learn all over again".

		LOL!
 Here's a more comprehensive anecdote:

I gave my mother-in-law my old G4 desktop a few years back â€Â¦ She was complaining constantly about viruses and problems with her PC. I sat down with her a few times to set up folders and email accounts on the Mac – she had about 4 things she would ever wanna do - and she wrote them down as I showed her.

After a few years of bliss and raving about how much better it was and how swimmingly everything was going - I did have to tell her where the hard-drive icon was once (over the phone ... that was weird) -
Anyway, she claimed on of her daughters managed to "break" it eventually. Then she bought a PC and has all the old troubles again (viruses mostly).

For whatever reason, when I brought the old Mac home, it worked for me =)

Anyway, apparently computer users need to coOriginally posted by swankFoto:

My mom bought her first computer about five years ago- a PC- never has had a problem, never had a virus. Before that the most computerized thing she had used was her coffee maker.

Yes, I find it interesting that the slogan is "I'm a PC". Technically a PC has nothing to do with Windows and runs a multitude of operating systems - one of it's many strengths. Though I guess MS isn't really going to highlight that in their ads. =) |

I immediately closed the page once I noticed it loading ad.yieldmanager.com I have just fought this on a pc for a customer and its a nasty take over piece of software.

Likely because it can be edited by anyone, but do a search for ad.yieldmanager.com and find out just how bad that thing is, any site that starts to load anything suspicious will always get an X in the top corner from me.

		| I wish that all the people who need a computer that they can take out of the box & use with no problem or setup or basic understanding of what they are doing would immediately go out & get a Mac & that it would actually work out like that for them. |

Macs usually don't hold anything worth hacking with viruses.
I don't think they're used in data intensive applications.
Do they even make Mac Servers? They have them at McDonalds! :-)

They're only good for graphics. Yes PC's are more work but are also more versatile, too. Ease of use, The OS may be more user-friendly, but software is very similar on both brands of Microcomputers.

PC users can do "Context-Menus" with one hand. |

Not that I NEED a computer to do that, but that's pretty much been my experience with macs. |

Here is an example of a mac being a pain in the butt.

Hard Drive crashed on an ibook my friend owned. On my pc 2 small screws release the hd and I can have a new one in place in about 20 minutes. The mac took 4 hours, and at least 50 screws.

I also don't feel that mac really has anything on pc. Besides, Bill Gates wrote the original mac os anyway. They are not that different. I know that I can do more with my PC. I used to use my mac for school, but Microsoft one note works so well for homework that my mac is collecting dust these days. I only have access to all of the types of computers because I am a tech guy at a school, but after using all of the platforms all day I give the edge to pc.

With that said, my grandparents could probably benefit from a mac. They would have less stuff to worry about, and less third party software to learn. So I would agree in part that mac has its place for sure. Just don't try and fix them because it sucks. |

Reminds of a Steve Martin quote. "She refused to call me...even after all the time I spent holding her poster up with one hand." :)
