I was hoping some folks would be willing to further critique my Literalism entry. I'm wondering what the folks who voted it under five thought (and above as well). I thought this photo was better/stronger than my Book Title and yet it did far worse.

Thanks for your help.

Like Water Off a Duck's Back

there is a funny color in the top right corner - looks like you have tried to change colours by using selective coloring. I am sure it's not meant to be there.

Also I would ahve cropped most of the top off, it's a waste of space and doesn't add anything to the image for me.

Also I think it would ahve scored better had the duck been shaking his feathers on his back to tie in with your title better ;)

I gave the shot a 7, points lost because it wasn't quite literal as the water was coming of his head and the cropping seems off top to bottom, you needed the crop on the right to get the water droplets but the top was too much negative space for this shot. And the color of the duck seems just slightly off, can't quite put my finger on it.

I really liked the motion, and thought it was a shame it wasn't his back but didn't mark down for that. Sorry. Most of the colors just seemed to be way off. The water looks polluted and that caused me to not like the picture as much as I should have. But because you caught the action in the shot, I gave you a 6.

Just FYI folks :)

I live in North Carolina. That color in the water is NATURAL. It has something to do with the tannins in the water (one of the reason so many people around here get kidney stones) and the color of the sand on the bottom of this little lake.

The crop was done to maintain a 1.25:1 ratio for 8x10 prints.

Thanks for the comments. I would still like others if you have any.
