Hahahaha...you frighten me, Dear....

Well, word has it DrAchoo was not waylaid by a wild herd of brumbies, but apparently, his...::ummmm::..."heart" became overwhelmed by the glorious vision of Judi posing as Lady Godiva on her horse...he has yet to recover from the experience so please feel free to send him get well cards and your good wishes.

::wanders off to polish halo::

Hahahaha....this is too funny. Although Monday morning I was fully dressed when I went riding....here's the proof...maybe that's what put him into shock...I was actually wearing clothes!!!!!

Not worried, I think once the scrubbers are done it'll be in the high 5.7s or 5.8s.

I might have found the answer in his portfolio, I think he had a bad accident once

Proof shmoof !! that's only a leg - what's to say the rest of you wasn't nekid ?

In fact that might not even be your leg !!

In fact if that is your leg, why was it ten feet away from you as you took the picture ?

You see how quickly your proof falls to pieces ??!!

what happened to my high score? bunches of angry voters made my vote sad:(

Hey guys - great job with this challenge! It was a pleasure to vote. It's probably the highest average score I've given in a LONG time (over 6.5) and definitely the most 10s in a long time. Very very nice work!

that could mean either the trolls or the nice people are mustering their numbers...and here in N America it's the Labour Day long weekend, many of our kind may be off doing long-weekend thingies...

There was an inordinate frenzy of votes in the first couple days. Soon as the other (larger) challenges hit it was destined to taper off.

I thought most of the entered photos were astoundingly average or sub-average, not even up to the usual dpc quality spectrum. But I'm looking from the jaundiced viewpoint of one who has critiqued and mentored aspiring horse photographers for years (over at the Equine Photographers Network) as well as doing private tutoring. I own and ride horses as well, and when shooting can "feel" the gaits and their body language. There's a "sacred geometry" to showing horses in their most attractive body positions and way of going, coupled with the usual "rules" of good comp. Not expecting people here to really "know" that stuff, but it's impossible for me to look at it from a non-horse person's viewpoint.

Soooo, I am "barn blind" when it comes to my own stuff--I know "what sells" both to commercial and editorial (magazine) buyers, as well as what types tug at the heartstrings of horse owners. I ran the shot I entered by people who are in my business, and they're obviously as barn blind as me, they thought it was great. It's not an ego-thing, really, it's just misunderstanding the "market".

It's like studying the judges' backgrounds and work before entering shots in a juried competition, if you know what they liked in the past you can enter the right stuff. So now I'm not honked off about my score only meeting my dpc average, I "get it" now, I misunderstood the judges' prefs. Onward and upward!

I hear you, Lynne. I'm in the horse biz as a barn manager/rider/trainer/instructor, so when I left comments I tried to leave a remark about the technical aspects, then mentioned the subject matter. In a few shots neither model nor photog looked to be in a safe position, so I expressed concern when I thought fit.

Did they think your comments were helpful? I commented 20% and looked later to see that every one had been marked as helpful. Hope I have time to vote the rest, and make some more constructive comments. Safety is a biggie, yep, all of us who've been with horses for any length of time have tales to tell, scars to point to. I am currently sporting a "third eye" of a big goose-egg/bruise, from an untentional meeting of my young mare's jaw line with my forehead. She is half Lipizzan but looks and acts purebred and we play extensively at liberty, she may perform in more than a YouTube video down the road--we're learning to dance together like those silly skilled border collies do, and she is very fast. Horse heads weigh what, about 100 lbs? My hairdresser laughed her ass off when she saw my forehead, once the bangs were swept away, she's also a distance rider.

Can't really do well with horses without a sense of humor, eh? Especially in my sport-endurance riding. Keeps ya humble too.
