I went to my monthly photography club competition last night.
It was an open competition, so I knew it would be a tough one.
It took a while to pick out photos to enter.
Well I lucked out by the fact that the judge was a great nature photographer, and all of my shots were nature shots.
Check out what he does.
He's got some great shots there and on his stock photo site here.

I won two 1st places ribbons and a 2nd place ribbon.....it felt great!
Here are the shots

Congrats! Those are some pretty good shots. I especially like the mood of the first one.

Curious: how do you win two first place ribbons in a single competition? Or were there more than one category?

Thanks..

Sorry, I should have said that 2 were for color (I got 1st and 2nd there) and one for B&W.

That's a great butterfly shot - tons of detail and a good seamless background with pretty even light - congrats!

Thanks everyone...
Yes, actually the woods and cormorant were taken with the Canon.
In fact the woods was with the kit lens(18-55) and the cormorant was with a cheap canon 75-300mm lens. Just goes to show that you can produce decent shots with the cheaper lenses.
The butterfly was with my Sony 717...only taken a few weeks after I got it.

Make sure you look at that judge's sites..he is fantastic!

You could interpret the three ribbons as a sign that your art is at the level where people are willing to pay for it. You ought to put some images in DPCPrints.

Congratulations, Terry! Those are beautiful. I love the butterfly shot. The sepia trees are cool, too. I like how they slowly fade away. Great job.
