Ooooohhh....I am so glad I am not a newbie!!!! I have been here for about 4 years....and just reading this weeks challenge forums....I don't know what to do...let alone what a newbie would do. Between the mish-mash of the Duotone/BW/Subject Choice debate of the Abstract Challenge and the cryptic discussion on the Road Less Travelled....I don't know which way to turn. I feel if there is confusing discussion on what fits the challenge now....what are the voters going to be like....dangerous grounds....!!!!!
Who else feels that way?????????

Play safe and go literal. The road images will do well and the ones attached to poetry in some way will bomb, unless it comes across as a literal definition of the challenge. I'm playing extra safe and not submitting in the road challenge. ;]
I had initially made the B&W challenge my main focus from the get go. :)

Close your eyes, take a breath, and think, "What does it mean to me?"
Then create an image that illustrate what it means to you.
Whether it scores 1.0 or 10.0 or somewhere in between, take satisfaction from an image that illustrates well, what your mind's eye saw.
Oh yes, and exhale, inhale, repeat...

You can say "what does it mean to me," but with the DPC crowd, literal is the way to go, unfortunately. If you wax poetic or get too esoteric, it will go right over the heads of the masses. I predict we'll see lots of roads. LOL |

But mine will be a very poetic road... ;-) |

I avoided taking a picture of the Amish sign showing a horse and buggy! LOL I didn't get any shots today despite driving all over (for various reasons). The KY blue grass wasn't so blue or green for that matter, it's dried up and brown with cloudy skies from Fay. I passed on all pictures today because of the lack of color.

Not these gray skies with no defined cloud formations that would make it interesting!! Unless you can teach me some processing I don't know about ;)

Try Shadow/Highlight for starers....then select your sky area with a good feather and go to Curves/Options and then click on each of the settings....then start tweaking.
