Yes BUT theyre almost in every challenge....

Still doesn't warrant discussing them during voting.

So..... wait until after voting is over and oh wait.... more voting therefore
dont ever talk about it?

Talk about the generalities, but this thread wasn't about generalities. Which is, I believe, what Art was referencing. This thread is picking on a specific challenge.

Just the purple challenge???...hmmm...I seem to remember this being the case of many of the challenges. The images are new to some people. Don't you remember when you first conquered that butterfly shot...or that moody portrait....it was a wonderful feeling. Right? Well now that same feeling is being experienced by others. What's more, is that when you first conquered that new success, others were saying what you are saying right now...ho hum...another one of those shots.

We may get tired of seeing the same shots...but you must remember that there are people of all levels on here and they, too, are growing and experiencing new things. So don't vote them down on that...instead give them an encouraging comment, one that they can learn from.

That covers half of the issue. It doesn't explain the phenomenon of the same people taking the same shots over and over again.

Those are the people that need the most help. That are stuck in a quandary and need help to move on. Either you can leave them and expect to see more of the same repeat shots...or you can help them by leaving a comment to guide them into a new area, that might just inspire them to try a new area.

It could be just that they are too scared to try something new, in case they fail....or they just don't know how to move on and try something new. Whatever the case.....a comment or two could just make the difference.

Well unless you have a kickass portfolio good luck leaving such comments on non-newbie photos. :P

ok so lets change the name of the thread and call it:

"I'm tired of seeing....." and cross out any reference to purple and replace it with the word twiddle dee-it still doesnt make a difference

By all means, take your pictures and submit them - but youre not getting a 10 out of me for something ive seen over and over again -UNLESS you add your own twist to it now that would be something

I on the other hand really enjoy seeing all the different takes on a challenge.
How everyone sees Purple differently and puts their best image in.
The last Woody challenge was an awesome example of this.

Just for the record....

Im not saying DPC is full of people who use the same idea in every challenge but I have noticed in this particluar challenge a large amount of similarily themed shots.

Im new at this as well and so I dont expect high scores in any of the challenges and I agree that its great to get technical proficiency by trying shots that have been done before.

Its just that the purple challenge seemed like a good opportunity for people to try something different that maybe I could learn from.

Im not complaining. (Kinda)

Such is your perogative as a voter, but do we need the 4,000th thread about it?

*EDIT* I wanted to add that my intention isn't to pick on you specifically SugarPie. I'm just trying to get across the notion that this subject probably doesn't need a public calling out. That's what the voting is *for*. If the site masses simply decide that seeing the same thing over and over isn't something they want to continually vote low for, that's what we, as submitters, have to live with. Work with it, or work against it in your submissions, but generally futile to complain about it if your decision is the latter.

Yeah, but I'm tired of seeing the same ol' green hulk - this would've been more original...

1) I didnt start the thread I was simply agreeing

I don't feel picked on to me - everything is like water off a ducks back, it just rolls right off. Certain things anyways. I don't complain about the scores on my images compared to those scores the 'trendy' images are getting. Why? Because its a trend. Like a phase growing up. And in simple terms: I'm tired of seeing the same thing over and over again. That's it. I don't care about the scores. Although I do find myself abusing the update button for comments

*edit
besides calling out would be pointing out EXACTLY which image 'trends' and whos guilty of them. We are generalizing
