No soda/pop on a regular basis. Maybe twice a year I'll get a fountain Coke (never Pepsi) and drink it with a straw. |

In the WAY freakin' old days, you had "soda fountains" - counters in drug stores usually where you could get your Coke. With or without flavors, like vanilla or cherry. It also served as an ice cream counter, where you could get true "sodas" - root beer or Coke with ice cream (usually vanilla, always the hardpacked real ice cream) in it.
In soda fountains, the Coke came as a syrup and was mixed at the dispenser with carbonated water. If you were lucky, the ratio of syrup to water was ever so slightly on the high side. And somehow, fountain cokes are always better than either canned or bottled. Not sure how the fountains work today, but I would imagine similarly, yet more rigidly controlled to prevent that ever so slightly high side ratio. Wouldn't want to waste the syrup, now would you? |

I used to work for Coca-Cola, so I fee like a traitor now.....
...my latest obsession is Diet Mt. Dew (Code Red), in the can, by the case! No straw, I just suck one down after another.

I'll pass. I have no interest in drinking flat watered-down Pepsi. |
Funny, it is neither flat nor watered-down, anymore than a fountain drink that is. But to each their own. |

That's the way I was drinking Coke this weekend! :-D
ETA: No straw as I am not a kid nor a chick! :-P

Using a straw can help prevent tooth decay, as the corrosive liquids are largely shunted past the (front) teeth directly to the esophagus. |

Ice cold Wild Cherry Pepsi, over a lot of ice, from a one litre bottle 'cause it has more carbonation, NO straw.

My grandpa owned a Coca Cola bottling plant in the 30's. Consequently, in my family we are all Coke drinkers. Including me. I don't drink a lot of it because carbonation leaches calcium from your system, and the sugar is not all that good, eh. But, a Coke over ice from Quick Trip with a straw - OMG - the best on a hot hot day.

Diet Coke. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. The only liquid I consume. I know it's wrong, but it tastes so good. Wait! That's not true. I had some orange juice back in March. |
