I suggest we set up a help desk to be sure Slippy has someplace to sleep for the next, say... 6 months?

Well, here is some angry backlash!!!
I am totally technically minded and am so irritated by men who think that women are stupid and by women who are stupid!!
I was in a tire shop the other day and the guy helping me was talking about 4-wheel drive vehicles and proceeded to tell me that it was very technical and hard to understand but he would try to make it simple...I wanted to choke him.
Another time I was in a gun shop and the guy behind the counter totally ignored me and helped several other men who came in after me...finally after a couple months of him not fixing my gun, I looked up the schematics online, figured out what parts I needed and fixed the gun myself...
Damn men!! |

Funny you should mention that...
The other day at work I walked into a conversation about how their wives couldn't be trusted to put the correct movie back in the NetFlix envelope. They looked a little "busted" by me walking into the middle of it and admitted that I'm probably the only woman they know that could get it right. The next day the same group of guys were talking about how they weren't allowed to do laundry because they always screw it up.
Like you said, "Hot water wash AND dry for ALL the clothes" even though there's been a science passed down from generations of women on the proper technique for each kind of fabric type. There's countless books and magazines out there that describe exactly how to do it that are also available to men.
I bet your wives know a hell of a lot of stuff that you didn't even know existed. Different priorities constitute different learning and well... giving a shit.

And for good reason.... It's one thing to banter, but another to insult intelligence. Happens to us men too from time to time.
Had an electrician out one day, he spent his time talking down to me about electricity and how complicated it is.
A couple of months later we had an opening at our power plant, where I just happen to be the operations manager. He spent the interview looking pretty miserable. |

I'm not super-knowledgeable, but I do my damnedest to not come across as a dumb chick. When I got my car I also made sure I bought the manual with all the things that could go wrong with it, etc, so when I go to the mechanics I can TELL them I need new swaybars/wheel bearings/whatever. They find I'm right a helluva lot of the time. |
