Hello I am Photoshop CS3 stupid :)
I am using a Canon 40D camera and have Photoshop CS3 extended version and am using Windows Vista program. Mt pics come up HUGE (72ppi) and I can not submit them for contests on here. I have tried to resize them with little luck...I have done Image, to Image Size and Pixel dimentions to width 6 and height 4.5 with resolution at 300 ppi but it's not working. Everytime I change a number value everything else changes and my pic becomes distoreted. What is the best way for me to change the image size so my pics will fit on here for challenges? Please advise thank you!

do you have restrain proportions box clicked? I the little chain thing clicked? that makes the two move in tandem.

Yes I had it checked which I have now unchecked but now my pic looks super pixelated and distored. When I enter my dementions of 4.5 and 6 (width) shouild I do it under pixel size od document size? I know for Canon it's weird on photoshop so I thought I would ask and see if other Canon shooters are having this problem.

by all means, you should browse through the tutorial section. there's a lot of useful tips in there. BTW, in answer to your specifica question, try this one: getting images ready for DPC

Your photograph is 1800x1350, which does not meet the size requirements is the error I am getting on DPChallenge when I try to submit after I resized the image. I know the rules say this....No dimension may be shorter than 160 pixels or longer than 640 pixels.
But when I do this my pic is really distorted. I went in and changed the doc size to 4.5 H and 6 W and 300 PPI resolution and then went back in and changed the pixel size to 160 pixel H and 640 pixel W and it looks funny.

FIrst of all when you go into Image Resize, make sure all the little checkboxes are checked, then change your 300 ppi (or whatever) to 72 ppi. This will put it into monitor viewing size. Next change the longest side (in pixels) to 640. Set for Bicubic Sharper (or whatever your choice).
