I had my idea for Literalism all planned out, unfortunately I couldnt get the shot I wanted - none of them turned out any good.

Setup: A desklamp, with an on-off switch at the front of the base. Four hands (fingers) pointing towards or touching the switch. The light is on.

Can anyone guess the common phrase?

"Many Hands Make Light Work" :)

I was being sarcastic ... I was hoping you might have held out for at least a couple of wrong guesses before divulging the answer.

Is it How many hands can turn off a light bulb?

I know, I know, pick me!

It's that well known, if rather over used, phrase:

"They really should make switches on desk lamps more obvious, as they always have to be pointed out to me!".

Do I win a prize?

I'm still surprised nobody did an idea someone in the office gave me (but too late) namely ... "money laundering".

I thought it only took two hands and one Clapper.

My idea: Drop in a Bucket. Too lazy to shoot.

I had so many ideas for this challenge I want to see "Literalisms II" next week!

How about "Love Hurts" (close-up of somebody getting a heart-shaped tattoo, with a drop of blood on the skin near the needle?)

I also had "Many hands make light work" on my list, but my idea was to have 5 hands reaching in to the center of the frame, all with a finger touching the base of a seemingly unpowered (by normal methods, anyway) light bulb, but with the light bulb illuminated (sort of like my "Shadows" entry, but with the bulb more obviously "on").

I tried this idea with two different set ups but couldn't get any of them to come out either. I think I did about 10 different things for this one and it was the very last one I entered but sadly I didn't finish tweeking it, just entered the first edit, then finished the comments and sacred and it was 11:59 PM, to late to tweek and re-enter. :)

I will post my re-edited version after the challenge

thought of "Keeping up with the Jones'"... live near Beverly Hills and Bel Air.. so it would have been easy to shoot.. but got busy. Not much of a loss, because it's a little too straightforward, compared to what all my favorite images are (play on words, rather than illustrating the actual thing)..

My first thought was "cook the books". Oh, if I had only listened to the inner voice.

I wanted to use the phrase, 'Set the world on fire'

Unfortunately, I didn't have a big enough match.
