ok, I've had several comments on the noise in my pics. Can some one show me how to fix this problem?

I don't see a problem with the noise level in the image.

Beautiful.

Personally, I love Noise Ninja.

I think maybe they are referring to some of the artifacts in the background which i think are due to the size reduction and Jpg conversion.

At 153k file size, I don't think it is JPEG artifacts, though there could be some posterization from resizing and color depth reductions. I do think it is noise or similar artifacts, though. I can clearly see it in a few places, most noticeably the lower right.

What software are you using? I'm not the expert, but this is what I do. Select the background first, as you don't want the noise reduction to kill the detail in the main subject. Since the background is a fairly solid blend of one tone, you should be able to apply fairly heavy noise reduction and get a smooth look. If that does not get it smooth enough, a Gaussian blur can help. You just need to be careful to keep the selected blur area away from the subject by a few pixels or it can create other artifacts. I used a combination of Noise reduction and blur on the similar background in this one:

and a little pixilation in the yellow reflection of the leaf due to resize. With advanced editing you could use a very light blur tool to smooth it out some after resize. But I don't see any noise!?!

I'm going to have another look on my home system this evening. I think it is showing up on some monitors but not others, but it is clearly visible to me on the one I am using right now.

I've had some of my own like that. This one has a nice smooth sky on my monitor at home, but at work it shows noisy artifacts in the sky.

Yes, it did. Even on my monitor at home, I can see some of the noise in the first one. Primarily in the lower right area. The background on the edit is much smoother.

You're welcome. It's not often I can give such advice to someone that outdistances me on scores! (Actually, I think this is the first time! There may be hope for me yet.)
