Up to 60 and 16 now. Mighty slow, but I think there is a massive amount of "competition." I think the whole "this photo is hot" thing really hoses the metrics (if the metrics even matter), since obviously those the system picks to be "hot" are going to get more views/etc -- which if that's what makes them "hot" in the first place... well, you see where that is going. :P

Of course, I'll probably change my negative opinion of the "hot" ranking as soon as one of mine gets marked as "hot" for a while. ;)

I noticed only three of us that posted in this thread actually subscribe to JPG. How are you guys gonna see your photos if you don't subscribe?

I know you can just buy the mag at the store. I am just pickin at yall.

Voted for the new issue entries...

And I made a bit of progress.

My stats now:

My Geometry entry has 57 views and 24 yeahs. (Added Aug 2)
My On Stage entry has 233 views, 41 yeahs, (and it's no longer hot)! (added Aug 1)

I'm guessing the increased views of my On Stage entry was during it's brief "hot" phase ;)

I voted for the ones I saw posted here.

Most of the images they publish, as others have noted, are edgy or off-kilter in some way. Beautiful, DPC-winning photos don't tend to get in.

So for the "night" theme, I didn't choose my star trails shot or any of my night shots of DC monuments, but rather this one.

But I did go with an old favorite of mine for the geometry theme.

Last day of voting, and it's beginning to look like we're the only ones voting, cause when this thread disappeared, so do the votes!

My Geometry entry has 70 views and 29 yeahs. (5 yeahs in the last 13 views, since my last post)
My On Stage entry has 265 views, 48 yeahs (7 yeahs in the last 35 views, since my last post)

and this one, which isn't closing today:

My Night entry, has 58 views and 18 yeahs.

As a side note, I did see some system abuse the other day by someone in the "hot" area. It was a pretty bad picture. They clearly created a bunch of user IDs (and not very well thought out like, "adsasa adadaa" and "asdadsa asdada" to vote and comment (those are just examples, since I don't have it in front of me, but it was pretty clear someone was just hitting a few keys randomly to make the names.)

Agreed.

My On Stage entry has 76 views and 18 yeahs, pretty-much where's it's been in the last week.

But, perhaps as someone else pointed out -- maybe it's a lot like Whose Line, and the votes don't matter. :P

Ohhh, just saw the Night theme. I'll have to find or do something for that...

That Night entry shot is fabulous. I gave it a yeah, along with 2 other great shots but yours stands out from all the ones I saw. Good luck.

Guys, keep in mind that they (the editors) don't like images that are very (hyper) processed. Even if the voters give you nice marks the editors will knock it off the Hotness list and even the competition.

This one was knocked out of the Democracy Theme and the site (lol) because of it's processing with something like 275 "Yeahs"
They thought I'd done serious selective saturation play when it was simply desaturated with a sepia filter on top.



I have a few in but only one is on the Hotness list.

There are so many entries these days it's hard to get views.
