As you can all see from cablondeone's post we took some photos on our way up to Seattle from Stockton, CA. The smoke was amazing, in some places the visibility on the Hwy. was less then a 1/2 mile... The other is a shot of Shasta Lake taken as we were driving by.
My Mom passed away last night so we will post pics as we can. It gives us a little diversion from all the things that we are helping my Dad with.
Penny
Edited to remove photo of smoke.

Just another dumb ol' bird shot. A pair of them were at the airport in the town where I went to pick up parts for a machine that I am building. I stopped and shot photos of them for a few minutes without getting out of my vehicle.
The California smoke shots remind me of last year here when everything was burning everywhere.

Day 13 -
It is 13th of July already, here in Australia, and I am just off to bed, as it is past midnight. |

Day 9
Processing question: why, in some of my pictures, do the shadows darken when uploaded to the internet (or at least to DPC), and how do I avoid it? In the Smoky photo above the same picture on my computer has much more detail in the shadows. |

My guess is a color management issue. Typical browsers assume that all picture are sRGB and display them that way. You'll need to check (assuming Photoshop) if you have "proof colors" turned on and proof setup set to monitor. That turns off color management for your editing but will show how your photo will look in a browser. Are you editing in sRGB or a different colorspace? |

A Slice of Life... today this side challenge has more meaning than I could have expected.
Here is my slice of life for yesterday...
... Stop and Smell the Flowers
redone based on suggestions:
... Appreciate the ones you love
... Remember the love they gave you even after they are gone

This is my only photo today. I shot it when I went to my son Robert's place for breakfast this morning.
Thanks for all the comments on the shot of the sandhill crane from yesterday. The bird looked ragged because it had just rained and she was wet. The pair of them were there, but not lined up well enough to get both to look good in one shot.

This is weird......I've had a rough couple of days, I'm tired and was headed for bed, yet something told me to come post a little beauty. I don't know how I missed this one looking for lily shots to process.
Penny, I'm sorry to hear about your Mom.....this lily's for you.

I am editing in Adobe RGB and after editing converting to profile sRGB. I do check Proof Colors before Saving for Web, but I just discovered my Proof Setup was set to Working CMYK, not to Monitor. I'll switch my Proof Setup to Monitor and see if that fixes the problem. Thanks Ken. |
