Spaniels make wonderful canine pets. I agree that this is a bit dark. I see that you have a .mac account and assume that you are using a Mac. The default Mac display setting is brighter than most PC's. I had this problem until I saw a thread about how to adjust my monitor.

Nice light on the dog. She looks very engaged. The rest might be a bit too dark.
