holy crap, so i knew that my camera had some specks on the sensor from shooting a few skys and having to edit out the blotches, but a recent looksee today reveals the true horror of what really lies inside my camera:

Send it to me, postage paid, and lemme see if I can clean it.
It may take me 6 months or so, but I'll make you a deal - I'll do it no charge.

Try here. Also search the forums for "sensor clean".. there was a lot of hits.
For a good general tutorial on different options... check this out.
And good luck... that's scary-lookin'! ;O) |

I bought Copperhill - it is overrated - this works much better:

I've done the Copperhill thing. It's not as scary as it sounds. Just make sure you have a FULL battery to start, and work in a room that's quiet, has good light, and doesn't have any fans running. (And in my case, doesn't have any cats. I use the bathroom with the door closed!) Make sure you get the PecPad stretched across the spatula thingie snuggly, and tape it in place on the handle (they provide a good diagram to follow), then SPARINGLY use the cleaning fluid. Do one pass each direction (across the top part of the sensor from left to right, pad angled to the right, then across the bottom, right to left, pad angled to the left), close the mirror and check the results with a test shot. If needed, reload with a clean pad and repeat. |

Forgot to mention... a buddy of mine showed me this, and I've done it a couple of times with really good success.
1. Put your camera into "Sensor clean" mode to drop the mirror.
2. Turn the camera upside down (or particles will just drop back to the sensor).
3. Use a Pocket Rocket (or similar dust blower) inside of the lens housing to shoot a few good air blasts onto the sensor.
Warning: obviously, be VERY careful not to insert the blower too far!! |

Also (promise this is the last) to add...
I use the Eclipse Optic Cleaning solution with Type 2 Sensor swabs.
Works like a charm. |

On a serious side, I do use Copperhill, just like Deb explained. (my left or your left...not quite sure?) |

I am hoping that pencil eraser is a joke and hope if it is that someone doesn't take it too seriously.
Anyway I plan on ordering my copperhill set soon. It is weird, I have the funds but keep putting it off. I think it is very true that a new lens is much more fun than buying something with cleaning in the name lol...

No need to list B&H as most of us don't live in New York.
This just below the listing at B&H website:
"# Important Notice!
# Due to shipping regulations, we cannot ship this item at this time. It can only be bought in our store. "
I need a new bottle and most of the stores around here don't offer it. Another causality of 9/11. |

After two months with my SLR, capitalizing Single Lens since I only have one lens, I was amazed to find a dust spot on my sensor. But thanks to the free-included sensor cleaning function it was no big deal.
Now what do I do about the pile of dust in the bottom of my camera? |

I'm sure everyone know that's a bad idea.
Only Hi-Polymer erasers should be used. |
