Please HELP me, as last night for some reason, when I loaded DPC, I got NO IMAGES as all. I woke up this morning to the same problem. Please HELP me.
Having NO photos is like having no eyes to see the beautiful image that we see here at DPC.
I did a disc clean up, but that hasn't fixed the problem I just have all these little gray blank boxes, with no images in them.
Thai has NEVER happened before. Is is something I can fix or could it be a server problem.
many thanks shez
ps; Could it be a Mozilla Firefox problem.

First try pressing Control F5, if that doesn't work, right click one of the broken images and pick view image, and see if the image shows up, if not hit Control F5 again.
This is all I can suggest atm, good luck!

Go into Nortons and go into blocked/allow sites (I think it is under Ad Blocking...it has been a couple of years since I used Nortons). Click on Advanced and onn Allow sites....make sure DPC is in the list on the left then click Allow and enter the symbol / and press enter. This will allow the images to show. It is a bug in Nortons and happens at random.

Interesting, one more reason for me to not use Norton, thank you Judi.

Try clearing your cache. Do you use Internet Explorer? If so, from the menu go to Tools | Internet Options | General (tab). Under Browsing History, click Delete. A new window will open. Click Delete Files.
EDIT: Firefox. I missed that. Still could be something similar. Broswers have a cap on what they'll cache (or store on your hard drive). Once the cap is reached, strange things can happen.

Shez,
On your menu under firefox, go to preferences, then to privacy, at the bottom of that window it says private data... click on settings and make sure that cache is checked, click ok, then click clear now. |

I wish I knew more and could help you.
But, until it gets fixed, come to my house and use my computer, Shez.

If you have Piclens installed, disable it by going to Tools, Add-Ons, choose Disable, close Firefox and restart it.
The cache in Firefox is accessed by Tools, Options, Privacy Tab, Private Data section on the bottom, click settings, and in that next popup, you can choose to clear the cache.

As Judi mentined, if you are using Norton (yuck) try this:
1. Go to the ad blocking and choose the 'configure' option.
2. Press the 'advanced' button to configure ad blocking for individual websites.
3. Press the 'add site' button to add 'www.dpchallenge.com' to the sites list.
4. Select 'www.dpchallenge.com' from the list and then press the 'add' button.
5. In the html string window, enter "/" without the quotation marks and select the 'permit' radio button.
6. Press OK and work your way back to the top level.
Hope this helps. |

I have done this and no change as yet. While in this section I had a box for cache and it was not ticked. Is that the way it should be or should cache be ticked, and then cleared.

What is showing? do you have placeholders instead of images? Try accesssing it with Internet explorer, jsut to confirm if it is a Firefox problem. Are you using FF2 or FF3? |

Wow Shez! This is awful. Have you tried a full shut down, even pull the plug for a minute, and reboot? I hope that you solve the problem soon because I know how you enjoy seeing and commenting on the DPC images.
Hugs.

Could it be a 'virtual memory' problem, as that has popped up a few times lately.
I have tried all the above suggestions ,to the best of my ability, and still not working. Still no image at all just grey boxes and all the text from DPC.
I am about to ring BrianR as he is super with computer problems. Hopefully he cam help me.
As it is Sunday here I will have to wait until tomorrow to ring my computer tech to fix the problem.....
I am useless when it comes to technical problems..... I just like taking photos..... and also looking at them..... |

I did all of this and again it did not fix the problem..... I was so hoping it would.
Thanks heaps for the way you typed the steps as it was easy to follow for a 'dumb computer non technical girl' like me.....

Have you installed any new software recently? If so, you may want to uninstall and try again. Just today I installed the Windows Raw Viewer and it wreaked havoc with my PS Elements 4 so I uninstalled the Raw Viewer and everthing is fine.
Also you may go pick a restore point from a couple of days ago or when you know it was working properly.

You are having a bad day! I won't try to guess what's behind that punctuation.
This might seem obvious, but make sure your hard drive isn't full. Very strange things also happen when that's the case. Wish I could stop over and get you fixed up... !

Do you have RealPlayer? The RealPlayer Browser Recording plugin can cause issues.
May also want to try Tools, Options, Content. There is a check box (2nd one down) that says Load images automatically. Make sure it's checked (it is by default), then to the right of it is an Exceptions button. In the top line (website address) add in //dpchallenge.com and then click allow. Clear the cache again, shut down Firefox and restart it. It may just nudge Firefox to give it back. Sounds a lot like an adblocking issue though that somehow DPChallenge got on the wrong side of.
Edit to add: What version of Firefox are you using? (Next to Tools, Help, About Mozilla Firefox)
There are some reports that version 3.0 isn't always picking up all the "stuff" from the 2.XXX versions of FF and a new profile needs to be done. Just a thought.

Could be a memory problem too, loading your computer with so many images and PP software is very demanding on the RAM. My old computer only ran 512k RAM and was so slow, luckily I had a big hard drive to store my pictures. I now run a 3gig RAM so no problems so far. Anyway, it could be a hardware problem. If you have a external drive try to transfer most of your image files to free up some space. That's about all I can add...... |

If you're using Firefox, how about checking the Adblock addon. Maybe something got screwed up. Go to Tools->Addons and temporarily disable Adblock. Refresh DPC and see if they show up. Who knows? Just a thought about something else to check. |
