one of the bigger features is that it now supports colour management (which is off by default)

Type 'about:config' in the address. Read the disclaimer, it is up to you...

Then search for color_man in the filter on the configuration page. Change the 'False' option to 'True' and restart.
You'll now be able to see images with the correct colour management.

Check this page before and after to see how it changes:
//www.color.org/version4html.xalter

info as seen on Rob Galbraith

It just happened to me on another site watching some type of video, well it was loading, I never got to see it.

Thanks Gordon. I had forgotten to do it. My system manages colour profiles just fine it seems now. :D

I just disabled all addons using the Firefox safe mode command. The crashing was getting ridiculous and very frequent. Hope Mozilla fixes whatever is causing this.

Did that solve your problem? If so, the problem is with one of your add-ons, not with Firefox -- which means the developer of the add-on, and not Mozilla, needs to fix it.

Problem appears not to be solved on my computer, removal of add-ons in Firefox 3 does not seem to completely fix dpc from crashing, browser restart every few minutes - I guess I'll try restarting the computer.

I tried disabling all of my add-ons, and it helped the crashing issue, though FF is still acting funny. After enabling some of the add-ons one at a time, it seems that PicLens was one that was causing the crashes for me.

I had my suspicions that it was piclens, oh well. Will wait for an update untill I reinstall it. Too bad, loved it while I had it.

I keep getting the same error and crashing when on DPC (crashed about 6 times last night). I was not using the Piclens mode and was using IE, not firefox. I too have uninstalled piclens.

I followed Gordon's advice about the color management - it really works.

I've had no problems at all with FF3.

I don't have Piclens on my work PC, but it does have most of the other extensions that are also on my home computer. If it is fine during the day and acts up at home this evening, then it's probably Piclens that's the problem.

Disabling PicLens has taken care of the Firefox3/DPC problem for me.

I could view one image, then if I clicked on another image, the website wouldn't respond.

Ever since I started using PictLens with DPC, I have had problems with DPC freezing even if I am not actually using PictLens. I have not upgraded FF, either. But I enabled the "new" PictLens when i saw that thread yesterday, and DPC has been a pain ever since. So I just disabled it (PictLens, that is) and everything is much smoother now...

This was exactly my symptom as well, though it wasn't repeatable, and I've also installed PicLens. I'll try disabling it tonight.

PicLens gone - issues are gone.

Seems like some of you had the same problem I had - downloaded piclens, everything crashed all the time. Upgraded firefox to the new version, which got rid of piclens, and now I'm not going to install it again, because I don't know how to remove those plugs.

Go to your start menu, go to All Programs and scroll up to Mozilla Firefox and in there you will have the option to start FF in safe mode giving you other options to turn off addons and such.

Might want to stay away form FireFox for awhile...

And we all know how rock-solid secure Internet Explorer is. I'll stick with FF.

Just letting everyone know. I'm on a Mac running Safari so I don't care one way or the other.

Yeah! I mentioned in another thread about removing Piclens. Sure it looked great but started having nothing but problems after it was installed. I got bored with it anyway *yawn*

Rule of thumb for any software. Never, ever ever use a .0. 1.0, 2.0, 3.0. It means it has had the most changes and the least amount of public testing, so it has the absolute worst odds of working correctly. :)

Houston...

So I get Firefox 3 and I DID get the piclens plug - and voila - things started crashing again. Sooo, I took Jac's advice and started Firefox in safemode. There's an option to disable ALL plugs - but not any specific ones. So I checked the box and restarted Firefox.

Now I have no Yahoo toolbar. I rely heavily on my Yahoo toolbar. I have downloaded it several times and it just won't appear. I have reinstalled Firefox, but no dice.

Help?

Dl'd 3.0. I find it now enlarges the images as well as the text when I use the ctrl+ scroll wheel. And they reversed the damn direction of zoom on the wheel. I looked and could not find a way to disable the zoom of the images. If you're voting on images and don't realize you're zoomed you might end up with a crappy version of the image. I'm gonna keep looking, certainly there is a way to disable the image zoom. I use font zoom a lot. When I'm tired my astigmatism acts up and I have to boost the fonts a notch or two. I'm also careful never to vote on images when my eyes are tired. I vote mostly in the morning.
