I usually laugh at the people who get all worked up over Friday the 13th. I never have had bad luck or anything but a normal day. That is until today. During today, we have had some odd patients in the ER where I work. I was parking the portable xray machine after imaging one of the odd balls, and ended up crashing into the wall guard and squishing my arm. Now I have a nice bruise starting over the wrist area. Then a little while later, I smacked my head right into the xray tube....nice dent in the head now. Needless to say my Friday the 13th has not gone too good this time around. |

Interesting...
Most of my day went normally, while parked at Wendy's with my mother I started getting an uneasy feeling and wanted to go home. Which... isn't completely unusual for me, I suffer from paranoid delusions, especially at night...
Anyway... we got home and I was unpacking the groceries from the car, we were in a terrible hurry because my brother needed to take the car to work in ten minutes. Just then our cat (an indoor cat) flew out the front door...
Our driveway is not level with the ground, there is a 2-4 inch drop off between the driveway and yard. While looking at the cat I misplaced a step and started to fall...
I stupidly tried to go into a run to catch up with myself...
It, did not work... I yelled out "falling, falling... Falling!" as I went down hard...
At the speed I was running with the weight I was carrying, I rolled, for over ten feet, through two ant hills, so quickly I picked up no ants. Crushed a bag of chips to pieces, skinned and twisted my knee, smashed my left ribs pretty good, twisted my neck, smacked my elbow, and bruised the whole side of my hip where I initially landed...
Thankfully nothing is broken, though I am in a deal of pain, which will probably get worse before it gets better. Thankfully, I was not carrying my fathers pie we purchased, nor my camera.
The feelings of impending dread, went away shortly after, heh...

Woke up in the morning and since we are remodeling our bedroon, I had to crawl under the ladder to get into the bathroom and when I did, I tripped and fell head first into the medicine cabinet mirror, shattering it. After bandaging up my forehead, I went to the kitchen for some eggs and the salt shaker was empty, so I began refilling it when Riley came in with the umbrella he snatched from by the front door. He popped it open as I turned and it jabbed me in the eye, knocking me off balance and causing me to knock over the salt shaker and spilling it all over the floor. I went to get the broom which was on the back porch and when I opened the door, the horseshoe we had nailed over the back door came loose and fell and hit me on the back of the head, knocking me unconscious. I was rushed to the hospital, but the ambulance crashed into a rivine and I was impaled by the IV stand. I was airlifted from there, but was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Other than that, it was pretty uneventful. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. :( |

I got home early in the morning from work. Then I slept till about 5:15 in the afternoon, got ready and came back here to the hospital I work at for another night shift. Tonight's been fun though. I work on the med surg floor and have a patient that Sundowns at night. He is always pushing his call light, but I love going in his room. He says the funniest things. This last time I went in he said, "Hot dogs! Hot dogs! Oh the hot dogs at baseball games are the best." It was great. So I didn't have anything unlucky happen.
I did go buy a new bogen head for my tripod today! Will be happy to be able to use a tripod again. |

Thanks Linda, I am feeling a little bit better, I'll recover. That which does not kill me, maims me, err I mean, makes me stronger. ;)
I felt good enough to photograph some stuff with my new flash tonight, so I must not be too bad off. :) |

I didn't take any chances, I hopped on an airplane in Houston on the evening of the 12th, and witht he time change and the International dateline, I arrived in Singapore about noon on the 14th. I think I managed to miss Friday the 13th all together! |
