In the industry that I call a career, and wish I had studied harder in school as to not be in, one of many lighting platforms that are used are balloons.

Crazy...I couldn't find prices so I guess that means some substantial coin.

basically, that is all it is is a light source in a helium filled fabric envelope.

I know that you prolly can purchase a small tungsten sphere, helium not included, for around, ohhhh, say $1200. A tank of helium goes for $50-75 depending on the source.

They have been around a while, originated in France. I bet if you were a savvy shopper, you could prolly find a used one.

I imagine that would provide hours and hours of 'silly voice' fun. I'd never get the balloon full. I'd be too busy larking around.

Ah, is that what they are called? I wondered. I snapped this last autumn while they were filming a car commercial in my neighborhood:

I wonder how hard it would be to make one

There's a funny scene in the recent Alvin and the Chipmunks movie that flips this on its head. The chipmunks normally talk in a very high-pitched voice, but when one inhales helium, he speaks in a deep bass voice.

hehe, i just imagine myself sneaking into this szene,

unnoticedly cutting off the cords holding the balloons, then quickly sneaking out to take picutres of many crappy faces watching their $$$lighting ascending into the deep sky like a UFO...:D
