 Can you believe it? More filming in my neighborhood. This time it was a Ford car commercial, shot by a company called Epoch. What a huge production it was. There must have been 50-100 people on the crew. The production trucks took up several side streets, while the filming area took up three blocks along our avenue (that's how much they illuminated, anyway).

The crew began setting up in the early afternoon (after having blocked parking the evening before), and they shot well into the wee hours of the morning.

The big softbox pictured here floated above the parking spot where the Ford pulls up to the curb. It was quite a sight, seeing this giant illuminated cube being maneuvered into position, rising and lowering, etc.

Normally I stay away from film shoots, but I hung out with my camera and watched. I bumped into a friend and we had a lot of fun chewing the fat and just watching the activity. I saw a lot of other photographers out with "serious" cameras (made me a bit jealous). :-)

Can you imagine how much that light costs? It's insane what they spend on commericial or music videos or whatever these days. This is a great slice of the big city.

How Coool!!! I love being in our downtown. There's so much energy and life. I think having New York at my doorstep would just be the most awesome thing. Thanks for sharing your city with us!!! I love it.
