Another vacation week under my belt (it feels good after a few years with no vacations at all). I really aimed for this to be a week (or most of it) for some photography. Yes, back to Cape Cod (unfortunately for my grandmother's funeral :( ) We spent a week there in order to make some happy times from a sad occasion. I do wish we had time to visit with Bear_Music again but it was not in the cards this time. I did get pretty sick the last 3 days of our trip (strep throat for the first time in my life, and some crazy viral infection) so I was unable to process photos until now. Here is the folder where I have started to upload images from our whale watch, trip to Boston, trip to Newport, R.I, and just a day trip for photos around the countryside. I'd love some comments, and will return comments given. Cape Cod 2008 I couldn't get the boat pictures done in time for the challenge :( |

I left a bunch of comments for you. I felt it would be worth mentioning that one thing that would easily improve your shots would be to level your horizons. Unlevel horizons were prevalent in that collection. I suggested in one comment that you turn on the grid lines or whatever the equivalent is for Canon to assist you in composing your shots with level horizons. You can crop to level afterwards, but as with the moored boat, you sometimes won't have room to crop without eliminating an important part of the image. It's best, of course, to eliminate problems prior to taking the shot.
Overall, a nice collection of images from your vacation. I especailly like the close up of the whale tale with the falling water drops perfectly frozen in place. |

Thank you roba We saw quite a few whales on that watch, the blue waters and skies really made for an awesome day of pictures.
Thank you yakatme for all the great comments. I will turn on the grids and see if that helps me get those horizon levels. The shots taken from the whale watch, well, it's hard to level the horizon when it is constantly moving all over the place lol |
