There have been several threads lately about the variances in scoring between individuals. This made me wonder if there were those whose scoring skills line up better with the voting public either in general or perhaps on certain subjects.

Here is your task (if interested). Add up the final voting finish for your top 5 scores and get a aggregate number. Here are two of my recent tallies where I votied on all entries. (Note: Making a nice looking table is sure a pain since all extra white space gets removed!)

Dappled (114 Submissions)
Vote.....Finish
10..........1
10.........26
9..........11
9..........24
8...........8
------------------
..............70

Boats (161 submission)
Vote....Finish
10...........3
10...........107
9...........63
9...........66
9...........116
------------------
...........355

The numbers may not mean a lot, but obviously for the Dappled my votes matched up the general public and for the Boats they did not. Has anyone ever gotten close to the magic number of 15, which would be 1+2+3+4+5 meaning they were perfectly matched with the voting public. Anyone with all their favorites near the bottem and have a number up near 1000. Try not to cheat by finding an old challenge with very few (or many) sumissions. We could always get fancy and divide by the number of submissions to normalize the results, but that might make my head hurt.

this is an area that I always find interesting. Some challenges I have been prety close, and others I have been wildly out with my top scores against the final positions.

Maybe we should have a side challenge of trying to guess the winners for say 10 challenges ? With points for how accurately you guess - after all there is a constant undercurrent that there is a set 'DPC formula' so it should be nice and easy to get full marks - shouldn't it ;-)

Guess, I am the only numbers geek here. Too bad, I thought this would be fun.

For the newbies here (or if you never noticed) click "order by my vote" to sort the vote by how you voted rather than by how the photos finished. I always enjoy seeing which ones I liked and other did not and vicec-versa

There is a plug in that one of the users on this site wrote that does just this: compare your votes to the final placing.

When I have some time, I will find it and post it here.
