Do you use a SanDisk CF card? I think they provide software with the card for exactly this situation. It should be able to retrieve the images for you.

There are special software programs meant to retrieve photos that have been deleted off of memory/CF cards. Google search it or go to your local computer store

What ever you do, don't take anymore pictures with that card.

This will cost you 19.95.

Not sure about this, but sometimes the cards come with a cd that has "recovery software" on it. Mine are those mini cds....

Alternatively, you may be able to install the card in a reader, and use your computer to access the "hidden" folders/files: usually they are not really deleted, but have a "-" or something added to their filenames that lets the OS know they are free space, and were "deleted".

Open the explorer window that shows your card--Under the Tools menu, select Folder Options, then the View tab, scroll down and check the box that says "Show Hidden Files and Folders" and then you should see the image files with a funky naming thing added to them. Rename them, should have access. But the Recovery Software that came with the card will likely do this in a much more user friendly way.

finally, you might find the software online, if you cannot find your disk: googly link

Good luck!

I don't remember what I used but I have recoved them before. If you have taken photos over them though I think you will have lost some of them forever. Don't give up easy though run the recovery several times.

If you didn't fill up your card you may still be able to recover old pictures. Use the software that has been previous posted.

I used ZAR (zero Assumption Recovery) at the weekend to recover 4Gb of images when a card reader went on the fritz half
way through a download and trashed the card.

It's free and got all the images back (including a few from about 6 months ago...)

You can pay for it, but the digital camera file recovery portion of the program is fully functional without having to pay anything.

so now, after spending over $100 dollars, i am in the final few moments of waiting to see if the damn photos will magically appear on my screen (of course using a free program since all the others just took my money). in case i end up destroying my computer in a violent rage and never speak to a dp-er again, i really like this site. good bye cruel world!

Well, at least you got a PostLumie Nomination! One of those plus 7 bucks is good for a small Starbucks coffee! Direct some violent rage toward a pillow, and stay on the site--we want more images from you!

I second Gordon. I've used some of the other software and not been able to recover my images, but I got them back with ZAR.

Give it a try.

well, I can't tell you how special to feel :~) but in this thread people give out their own personal awards to images they liked in challenges, often those that seemed overlooked in the voting... I do the PostLUMIES slightly differently than others do theirs: they do their own Blue, Red, Yellow custom "ribbons". I, however, am notably indecisive, and cannot usually narrow down to just 3, so I "nominate" as many as I darn well please (I am no slave to convention!) and then give the Winner to just one.

but if you check that thread, and see the PostHumous award winners, and the others, even a lowly postlumie puts you in the same thread, in mighty company :-)

Always good to hear a happy ending. Although I heard stories about curses befalling those who resurrect dead photos. Probably just folk tales though. ;-)

lol oh thanks. these photos aren't even something very important to me (other than a grede), they are for a class. its the biggest project of the year, otherwise i would have just blown it off
