i thought that was one of the better episodes of the current season. The ending was kinda strange... but Jacob is the big daddy on the island (whom gives Ben the orders) so i'm intrigued how this "move the island" thing will pan out.

As to the time-lapse thing:

The island is in a time loop. The only way through the time loop is through the 'hole' in the surrounding field that can only be reached by following the bearing they are given. The further they are from this hole, the longer the delay before something gets through eg: the missile they fire that misses the hole, the doctor with the slit throat.

Apparently 1996 was the time of the first 'incident' so they froze it just after the incident occurred as kind of a fail-safe, like when you save a video game before the boss so that if you die, you can 'reset' it back to the point of the save and continue and take a different path if need be. I think this is the life-extension thing they were talking about: if you could continuously 'reset' the island (by turning the key perhaps) then you could live 'forever', although not literally as you would just relive the same amount of time over and over again and never really progress.

I forget where I read all ^^^^^ this... if i find the link i'll post it because it was an awesome theory that included everything and tied it all together quite nicely!

I still don't know who Jacob is though.

Also, did you ever see the myspace page of the hatch? The numbers are the date of the first run of the Philadelphia Experiment (look it up on Wikipedia). Cool stuff.

ETA:

OK ok, i found it. This guy might actually have it all figured out:

Actually, it is in two weeks. But yes, 14 episodes instead of 16. That is because of the writer's strike. But, to make it up, seasons 5 & 6 will be 17 episodes instead of the originally planned 16.

Double episodes often officially count as two episodes. Don't know if you counted that or not.

Who was the actress that played the Oceanic representative at the press conference? It bugs me because I can't think of where I have seen her. My guess was 24 or Alias.

Hey doc
The one just aired was episode 12. There is a double (13 & 14) in 2 weeks (thanks Larry for confirming) to finish this season!

I had exactley the same thought about that Oceanic rep.
I'm not sure, but I think she may have been Lyn Gretsky from 24. President Palmer's press person from season 2, who got pushed down the stairs!

The Oceanic rep was played by Michelle Forbes. I had her confused with Andrea Roth (Harper, Goodwin's wife) for a second. Must be the mole. Ms. Forbes was in '24'. She also played the medical examiner in later seasons of 'Homicide: Life on the Street', and Kellerman's handler in 'Prison Break'.

The numbers are creeping in again...from the numbers repeated on the odometer on Hurley's car that his father gave him as present (poor Hurley) to what the Oceanic Rep said at the press conference about the Oceanic 6 (they survived for 108 days).

And Holy Hannah! - Sun has become downright cunning and dangerous...the way she stuck it to her father!

Yeah! I loved that conversation! Almost thought her dad got a heart-attack

does anyone know what Kate heard when she answered the phone???
05/29/2008 10:59:04 PM · #746
A most outstanding and satisfying episode. Best line eva:

"Dude. I've been having regular conversations with dead people. The last thing i need is paranoia."

LOL The writing was definitely awesome for this finale.

I think that may have been the best episode to date! Damn, Damn, Damn, another EIGHT months to go! GRRRRRRRR!
05/30/2008 12:39:57 AM · #748
I have to say that was good. And Kate heard someone on the phone say backwards "The Island needs you, you have to go back before it's too late."

I think that Sayid knows that they have to go back to the island and that is where he is taking Hurley. Now they just need to convince Kate and Aaron to go.

All the speculation a while back about the dead guy..Ben, not ben...and it turns out to be Locke. The name Jeremy Bentham mean anything? Sounds familiar but I can't place it.

So is locke dead? Or not? Off the island and in some ghetto funeral parlor under an assumed name and no discussion here about that?
