Hey all, I'm trying some new techniques after seeing a professional photographer's website.

Winter Marsh I
Winter Marsh II

Someone asked me last night whether the cyan is natural, and after all this time, I have no idea what approximate color cyan is (I'm slightly colorblind). I did lighten the photos considerably, but I did no color shifting.

If you happen to know of any photographers who take shots like this, I'd dearly like to find his website again! I can't remember his name! Argh!

I've seen this style used several times, most recently by Tony Sweet, typically though the colour is achieved using filters or white balance. I've done a few like this myself - Nicely done.

dsidwell, although I don't know of anyone off hand that creates images like that, I have a shot very similar to it called "Three Sticks" (see thumbnail). I used no filters on my shot, it's all pretty much as it is, out of the camera.

Oh and BTW, those shots are very nice! The colors are much greener (more cyan?) than my image is. Those colors are very unique! Are they strictly out of the camera or did you do a bit of adjusting in PS?

I adjusted the levels and contrast, but not the colors per se. Our valley here has a weird glow about it in the light fog.

So am I, but Cyan is a color we can usually distinguish. It's a light greenish-blue color, and one of the three subtractive colors (with Magenta and Yellow) which are used by offset, laser, and inkjet color printing methods. It is opposite Red on a color "wheel."
Cyan+Magenta=Blue; Cyan+Yellow=Green; Magenta+Yellow=Red
All colors approximate and subject to (mis)interpretation ...

I really like both the shots, dsidwell. Nice work! That lake (or whatever it is) should probably be freezing over pretty soon for you, huh?

Oh, my last post didn't include my forum sig.
