One of my new kittens decided to sit on my laptop, and when I came back into the display had tipped over. Any one know how I can get it back the right way up - I am getting a cricked neck? H-E-L-P....... |

Try the key combination: Ctrl + Alt + [Arrow Key]. The up arrow will keep or return the orientation to normal and the right, down, and left arrows, respectively, rotate the screen clockwise. |

I did that at work a couple months ago. I was running off to a meeting, and I was trying to lock my computer (Ctrl + Alt + Delete), but hit an arrow key on accident in my haste. I stopped cold in my tracks, turned my head to read my screen, and just said "uhoh...."
No one I worked with knew how to fix it, but they had a good time laughing at me. Since I kind of knew what I had done, it didn't take me too long to figure it back out. And once I had it figured out, I was the coolest person in the building. Everyone had to try it! I'm still waiting for the right time and person to use it as a prank. |

FYI, you can use the WindowKey-L combination to rapidly lock the screen.
Another cool trick to play, is go into their mouse settings, and set the double click speed to something so ridiculous they can never click anything. :)

I do that all the time. If i have a little more time I use printscreen to get an image of their desktop, set it as their background image, delete all of their shortcuts and hide the taskbar. When they come back everything is where it should be but nothing is clickable... it's great!
Or make their mous a left handed mouse. The left click will bring up an little menu with every click! |

Yup, thats a goodie (always make sure the mouse arrow is in the screenshot - it freaks them out). |

Nor mine ... I want to use it to preview images in IrfanView, rather than rotating (and reducing) the image. |

Try this for Windows Users:
1. Right click anywhere on an empty area of your desktop
2. From the menu, choose...Graphic Options > Rotation > 90 Degrees
Edit: (I never learned to type very well)

That will only work if your video driver supports it. It's not a Windows feature, but a third party feature added to the context menu.
Just an FYI

Thanks!
I tried it (graphics utility with my desktop), and it took me about 5 minutes to switch it back. I couldn't orient myself to the #%@# mouse! |

I'm not sure why you wouldn't leave it that way - you can lie down on the floor or the couch and surf much more comfortably. :) |
