Anyone have any incite as to how these photos were lit? This is a link where you can view the photos as well as a video but they dont show a view of the light setup...Im talking specifically about the pics against the white wall. I cant figure out for the life of me how that dark shadow is being made.

Horribly, with a flash blasting off almost directly in front of the subject?

I agree... that actually hurt my eyes after a while (especially the 2nd site).

This is exactly the effect that I get if I use my camera falsh and exactly the reason I invested in studio lighting. A friend of mine did a shoot and got the same sort of outline shadow and her customer was very upset as she thought that it made her (already fat) daughter look even fatter!! Not a good look.
