I am doing a superhero bodypaint series and once again I need help with a backround for a "green screen" shot, Steve Hill has been helping me but he´s busy this time around so I need someone else´s help. This time I am shooting Spiderman so of course it has to be a NY backround, anything else simply won´t work :) I am going to be a little ambitious this time, so far I have only done "half body" shots pasted on a backround but this time I want to try and do a full body shot and have him stand/hang/crouch somewhere in the photo. To do this so it looks convincing I would prefer having a shot first and to match my studio lighting to the backround shot, not the other way around. I am shooting this in exactly one week so I hope someone can help me.

I was imagining a rooftop shot, preferably backlit taken during dusk or dawn, I googled a little bit and found a couple of shots similar to what I was thinking.

If you want to help me out with this, keep in mind that I very likely have to tone and alter the backround shot and I also need it as high rez as possible as the composite photo is probably going to be in a photography exhibition. I will of course give full credit to the photographer who helps me out.

Here is the series, or at least what´s complete of it so far.

On a side note, does anyone have any lighting photos? I am going to do a shot of Storm from the X-men and do a similar shot as one but with lightings coming out of her hands and not fire. I would shoot lighting shots myself but in the 24 years I have lived in Iceland I haven´t seen a lighting once so the chance of me photographing one is slim to none.

I assume you mean "lightning" photos?

Larus, if you want lightning there's a great program that can make it for you. It's called Xenofex. I use it a lot and it works great. The resolution is great, you can set the start and end points and how jagged you want it to be and also how big the flare from it is.

Definately recommended and a lot easier than going through all the pics ppl send you :)

All the lightning in this pic was made with that program. 5 separate bolts were used and then radial blurred for the motion.

It might be what you're looking for.

Thx Tez, that should take care of my lightning "problem". Juliet, that would be cool but I don´t want you going through too much trouble, I was mostly hoping someone had a shot "lying around" that I could use :) Would be cool if you are up for it but seriously, just take it easy on your holiday in NY and don´t go through too much trouble on my account :)

I dont mind, I will shoot some stuff for you as I am a big fan of Spidey (shhhh dont tell anyone) and my kids will think I am the coolest chick on earth if I come back with some shots, so it is no problem.

and anyways, someone may send you some before i get back anyways!!

Thx Juliet but like I said, don´t go through too much trouble.

Thx Pineapple for offering that shot but if you look at the rest of the series I have worked on, all the shot´s are in pretty vivid color so a sepia shot would be very out of place, also like I said, I wanted to place Spidey in the shot standing somewhere and in that particular shot, to be to scale he would be a very tiny part of the shot but like I said, thx for offering it :)

I will have a look-see tomorrow morning (since I live in downtown NYC).

I'd love to be able to do it but I'm up to my ears in shizzle and I don't have access to any good 2nd floor views onto a spot where Spiderman can perch.

Those were some daylight test shots to get the angle and the perch but lacking in the "dark" night lighting and that perfect distance to the perch/building cornice.

Any DPCer that works in an office building should have some potentially cool angles to work with.

Hey no worries Steve, I know you are up to your ears. Thx for the suggestion and thx for offering to help Andrew :)

I found these in my portfolio, I have more on my HD if anything like this is suitable

oh nevermind i see you're looking for more of a 'ledge' type of shot there

Thx AP, will probably use one of them if I can´t get my hands on a shot with a ledge in the foreground, I really like "Metropolis Emissions".

Well this photoshoot got delayed quite a bit so I am not shooting spiderman till this sunday so I just wanted to bump this thread. I specifically would love a shot taken of the eagles (that´s at least what I think those statues are) that protrude from the Chrystler tower in NY but taken above them so I could have Spiderman sit/stand/crouch on top of one of them, looking down on the city.
