Last night I started out at 20 votes and average vote of 6.4. At that point I predicted that I will end up with a 5.6 and right now I am at 63 votes and 5.8730. I will be happy coming in 27th or higher. There are some really cool shots in there.
Before I even posted, I guessed that every comment I got would be regarding the shallow depth of field (based on previous comments) and so far 3 out of the 5 comments are just that. I guess shallow depth of field is just not very popular around here (comments welcomed)...

Can an out of focus shot still score a 6.19? I'm assuming some voters are seeing a sharp image and some are not so I'll chalk it up to lack of food knowledge. Now I can sleep tonight. ;)

I know the Blue Ribbon winner already and imo it's a DNMC or a borderline DNMC.
My prediction is that it's gonna piss me off on the front page. LOL

heh- i used a tripod, and my image is -sharp- but I still got a 'could be sharper' comment too-so dont' feel bad :) at least your score is in the 6ish's mines headed towards 3 and its actually getting closer everytime I check it (which is periodically to see what kind of voters are out today in the voting pond - I kinda wish I abstained from swimming in this challenge this time around- my average is already dropping and dropping and dropping...soon it'll be below average (oh joy - i'm going to be a below-average photographer!)

I feel for you. I started at 7 (oh happy day) went to 4.75, then you sent me a nice message on this thread and it immediately started to rise. Got to 5.5, had a quick look around and got vertigo and decided to go back down again 4.73
Fingers crossed for you that you go northways. Although I should not worry too much, my gut feeling is that there are plenty of people on the site who vote low just to make themselves feel better/superior. As for me I will go through and mark probably at the weekend when there will be happiness in my heart and high scores a plenty

Well- not to worry if it made its way up to a 5.5 in a day i bet it will get up to around a 6ish before this whole thing is said and done... --too bad mine already has like 75 votes of 5 and below (and about 4 or five sixes among them only because my FIRST FOUR VOTES IN A ROW were 6's *LOVE THOSE VOTERS!- really dislike the 3's tho I don't think its -that- bad a 5 maybe but 3? geesh its not like I shot something with no composition or color or focus or lighting or well...heck its not like I just shot darkness! its artistic if you open your eyes -heh- *feels a little better now* *let that little irate artist in me out for a second* *LOL* :) now back in the box artist-back in the box before they all stone you! *hehe* *ducks back into her box* :) |

| well I just buried my score deeper into the dumper since I gave out some more 10's from what I originally scored as 9's *heh* so some of you are bumped up ;) :P to set off those low-voters *heh*! sure they may get me (the highest vote I think i recieved so far is a 6 and i'm -still- at a 4.XXX)...but they won't get all of you! :) :-D *hehe* |

I want to ribbon with this shot soooo bad!!! I have a chance with this score, right? At least top 10? I've been trying so hard for a ribbon and my last few submissions totally tanked with the voters, so it would really make me happy to see this one do well. |

I wouldn't be too sure about the ribbon, top 10 maybe; my score is very close to yours (was higher yesterday, though) and there are *some* pictures that are definitely better than mine, at least two 7+ scores are still in the game...

I would think it would definitely be in the top 10. Mine is currently one of 7s. Currently at 7.4 and dropping

Man I'm pretty pumped about how this ones doing. It was at 6.72 this morning and has gone up every time I checked it so I hope it keeps rising! I'm loving all the comments too. There were a couple of really great shots in the challenge that I know are gonna give me a run for my money but I'm excited that I even have a shot at getting my first ribbon and either way this picture is going on our wall in the kitchen! This site is great! |
