 A tribute to the 1980 Bob James album of the same title, with a similar image on the cover. I always liked that cover, and at the last minute the idea came to me to try to recreate it for this challenge. I couldn't get the mustard as thick as on the original, and I changed the crop a bit, but I think it came out OK. Let's see how it does.

A few more details on the set-up: This was shot outdoors in the afternoon light. Put the blue softbox background on a table in the backyard in the shade. Used a tripod with camera shooting straight down at the table, and my 100mm macro, manual focus set at f/8 and bracketed the shutter speed. Grilled the dog, then added the bun and mustard which kept smearing and the bun kept falling apart. To get the shot, I had to hold the dog in place with my left hand to keep the bun parallel with the dog, while pressing the shutter with my right hand. Must have looked kind of like Rosemary Woods.

Post-processing: Levels, boost contrast and saturation, a little bump in lightness/brightness settings, then some USM before and after resizing.

If it's going to be a shot THAT close up, it should be pristine in my opinion.
The smear in the mustard and the waves in the blue fabric wreck this for me.

Nice colors. The yellow (mustard?) stuck to the dog underneath the mustard line is a little put offish though...

Excellent composition and lighting. I really like that you kept it simple. The zigzag mustard is a nice touch to break up the horizontal lines.

I would give this a ribbon for sure. The colors are captured beautifully, picture is so sharp it is unblievable and the background color makes the whole thing pop. Well done.

Brilliant, love this shot..I could really see this on a food box. I think the cut out around the bun is a little choppy but the overall feel is great.

In my opinion the blue background hurts an otherwise great shot. Not sure why you used that. It kind of conflicts with the hot dog. Still a 7 that could have been a 10.

Hmm, looks good. I like the contrasting blue background. Definitely fits the challenge criteria. This should do really well! Good luck. Dang - it's only 10am - too early for a hot dog - lol.
