It seems that when I take pictures at dusk or at night, most of my photos turn out very grainy. Any suggestions on the settings I should be using to get away from the grain? I use a Sony DSC-F707
Thanks, Dan |

I have never had any problems with grain on my night shots with the 707 when using ISO 100. Some longer exposures will get a bit noisy...

I've found that experimenting with white balance and underexposure can sometimes help reduce grain and noise, although the problems you're experiencing have never been apparent to me (using an F717), unless using a higher ISO than 100.
Can you upload or e-mail some examples?

What are the subject of your pictures? Brightly lit? Try playing with EV- or EV+.
Definitely longer exposure will cause noise.
My camera is the cousin to yours and I seem to get fine pictures in that mode.

Here is an example taken at dusk... to me, the sky looks very grainy/noisy.
