Just because people don't agree or understand doesn't mean he's weak.
The opposite is probably true.
Give the guy a break.

When one starts off by casting aspersions on others because they do not share their belief in a Supreme being, it stands to reason that the response may be less than friendly.
I for one do not believe our friend to be weak... Obstinate maybe, but certainly not weak.
As for giving him a break... not a problem. I can assure you that since he made his final post, there will be no further retorts to this final post from me. :O)

I have no need to control anyone. Religion has a need to control everyone.
edit to add..
As for Stan's final post...it speaks volumes. No need to counter it one single bit.

Here's my perspective: he voiced his biases and his contempt for non-believers (and due to the narrowness of that definition, that's billions of human beings), and he was answered in kind. |

So, you call God? Why?
Does that make you like Commissioner Gordon with the Batphone?
When you call God, does he (or she) respond well to being told to do your bidding? If he/she is omnipotent and omniscient are you really telling him or her something he or she doesn't already know? Does God even wait for the phone to ring or does God just pick it up and say "Hello, Stan."?

And why ignore this thread if you feel the need to explore and validate your beliefs? Just a thought.

Now, having said that, I'm ignoring this thread from here on. I've given my information and opinions. Any further questions will gladly be answered privately. | |
Actually, what I said was

Here in the Southern Appalachians, especially, we are taught to listen and believe the preacher. Fortunately, that is beginning to change -- to the chagrin of some pastors and the delight of others. |
I was referring to Christians being able to ask questions. Not cynics (though in re-reading this I can see how a Christian who questions could be considered a cynic, but I was more referring to someone not quite on the level of "cynical") or "unbelievers." Though I concede that I probably should have added "historically," but I thought that was clear that I was speaking of the past when I said it was beginning to change.

You "love atheists into Heaven," if you can, and I'll sit this out and watch! Yet, while I do, I call God as my witness that I've held nothing back in preaching to people who need salvation.
I, also, call God to put the responsibility for their blood...on YOUR account! |
As far as why I'm ignoring this thread (again, grin), well, suffice it to say that I don't need to yell at the unbeliever that he is going to hell in order to get him to know my Jesus. That is not how Jesus did it, based on what I've learned of his life, and I will not do it either. And it IS ineffective and inappropriate. I choose to love people how they are now, show Jesus to them through my actions and let them make up their mind. Scare tactics are immature, ineffective, belligerent, and trust the "recipient" to be ignorant.
