good question. Oh, and why are we trying to finalize teams now for something that will not take place till July? My experience has been that lots of folks change their minds a lot in a few months. My suggestion (no offence to anyone intended) is that it should be organized in June, when people know what their schedules are for July, with holidays etc considered.
My 2 cents.

Are you like having a bad week or something or is it just me you are having a bad week with.
One of the reasont that we are doing the teams now, is so that IF people change their minds or go on holiday or have other plans, there is TIME for others to step in.
Is that all right with you then Bassman, or you wanna go left field with that too. |

Cujee, I don't own this thing, I just made the suggestion and started a thread and kept track of the people.
Trust me, I have three babies and one more if you count someone here too. You are more than welcome to take it over. |

WOW, how about some gratitude for someone else that is trying to do something for the members here. Juliet has offered to step aside and let someone else run the show but I haven't seen anyone, including cujee, say they want to take it over. With thousands of members on this site I am sure there is room for more than one person to lead something like this up. Juliet, maybe you should call it something else and make it your own thing... I'm sticking with you girl! |

Oh yeah, BTW, the IOC/USOC is very picky about the unauthorized use of the "O"-word ... maybe you should all call it something else. |

I'm only half-joking -- they'd be after you if the activity had any commercial value. I didn't think of it until I saw this thread -- honestly I didn't pay much attention to the first version of your competition ...
The USOC controls the commercial use of the word "Olympic" by charter of the US Congress. For example, they have licensed it for the "Special Olympics" sporting gathering for developmentally and physically challenged kids, but denied the use of "Gay Olympics" to organizers of a sports gathering for homosexual/bisexual athletes -- that event had to be renames the "Gay Games" -- losing some panache in the process ....

Juliet i have no problem of you doing this. If i did, i would be yelling and ranting. You just wanted to do something for the members of DPC because DPC Olympics so far has been great (I think)

Hi everyone - I know this is not my discussion area but I was reading some of the post; different ideas from different people. I just wanted to drop in and say I like the concept of DPCOLYMPICS and to say everyone keep a cool head and all things will work out. All the debate made me look the first wpl thread {If you have a chance look at it). We didn't know what to do, when to do it, how to do it, but it turned out very successful. As I know DPCOLYMPICS will, just hang in there! |

Just to throw something at you all, how many would like to ditch the Olympics and do something like the FSM except instead of free studies it would be open challenges?
FWIW (this suggestion was not my idea) but personally I like the idea of competing but but I really don't care for the way the Olympics is set up.

I am very sorry I voiced an opinion. I will never do so again, and will leave you to your fun. Obviously after your comment above I will not be participating, but I wish you well.
