Are you are warm or a cool color person?

Here is a color wheel that might help |

So, for this challenge, what would a night scene be, warm or cold?
I'm thinking a night seaside composition with some distant lights from a pier or buildings. This would be more on the colder side, yes?

it would be cold, blues are cold adn night shots are usually blueish
I ''''think'''' that people are going to go nuts on the voting if there is a warm and cool colour in equal amounts in the shot!
so one or the other lol |

Lots of night shots are yellow. That would be warm.

you have yellow night shots, is that normal?
Oh wait unless you mean from the lights of a city?
If not, I need to see these yellow nights lol |

Yes, the lights from the city often give a yellow glow to the clouds at night.

I see. However, I'm in the part of the country where there normally aren't any clouds. ;-)

I had that thought..Maybe a sunset with the WB set to tungsten so it comes out blue? |

right - i typically like to mix warm and cool tones ( since they generally compliment each other ) - so messing with the color temp wouldn't work. you end up ruining one or the other.

So, would these be considered cool or warm? . . .

This is an interesting challenge - it's interesting because it makes us see just how often we use both temperatures together - cool to offset warm and vice versa. |

If it were me, I'd put them in the "cool" challenge.
It great to see these challenges, because I suggested them back in October. Fun to see yours get picked. And because I have what I think (who knows about the voters) is one of my best ever entered in the "warm" challenge.

I'd say they were predominantly cool with a touch of warm - just the kind of photo that will get you in trouble with the voters. :>) |

warm - warm - cool/warm
the first two being dark, rather than cool.

IMHO, I was leaning on the "cool" side for the first two, since darker colors are more toward the cool side on the color wheel. The third would be cool and warm. The brighter lights on this one point toward the warmer side of said wheel.

are they perceived as cool though? or do the warm tones prevail? ( in a sense of what is the subject )

Do take note that it's not "warm" or "cold". It's the Primary "warm" or "cold". So practically only 3 colors are acceptable, which is yellow, blue or red. |

You might want to re-read the description ... it is to compose an image primarily of cool or warm colors. Not only does it not say that only primary colors are allowed, it permits the use of a stray warm color in a cool image and vice versa, because it says "primarily" not "solely" or "only" |
