You think they are looking for a photo OF a pattern instead of the pattern being just a major element of the image? I wonder if using a title that pointed out what the pattern was would make it score higher?

There is no telling what they are looking for. I think most want the pattern to be the photo. Not a photo with a pattern in it. I honestly think if the pattern makes the photo (I mean its part of the composition) instead of being the photo is good enough for me.

Voters on here have been very critical in the last few challenges.

This raises the question, what is to stop anybody from giving a low score to everybody else in order to raise their own rank? I'm pretty new to this site and I didn't see anything about this in the rules.

There are methods in place to monitor such things. Search the forums and you'll find a ton of threads on this topic.

7.5 to 6.6 to 6.1 to 5.9

I am going to get a patterned stick and (*(&R^&(**)(_)*&*%$#* &^ &*(^$&^(&**()&

I bet Sam Chad licked my photo and Tim put bad mojo on my vodoo!

The plus side of starting out with a low score is the dives aren't quite as drastic. :-)

Glad to know I'm not the only one getting beat up with really low votes.

Man, there are some weeeeeeird voters today. My score is jumping around like crazy. It will be have inched up, then bang: 2 votes later, it has nosedived like a bungy jumper on its way down.

Maybe there are more than a couple of people with vengence on their minds :(

Edit: oops. can't type today

And score becomes completely and utterly irrelevant with just one very well considered comment - I just got that comment. :-) (How do you do dancing fruit? It's definitely a dancing fruit kind of comment!)

There are a lot of very good shots in there. Not sure why everyone is so crabby in voting this time around. Ease up folks, and enjoy! And Steve, if you give me a 1, there will be no more German dark chocolate for you!

Hanging around 5 again, ho-hum. BUT - one comment, "can't tell what I'm looking at"...

Guess I'd better stop doing abstracts. Nobody can ever tell what they are...!!! Har!

German dark chocolate?? I'm off to give Deb's picture the very high score it deserves!

While my shot is hanging around 5.3-5.4. Evidently the pattern in the main subject just isn't enough.

Yikes !! I've just finished my last piece as well . .

I would just like to go on record as saying that your shot is clearly the best here, and your interpretation of the challenge is outstanding, if not unique. The rest of you may as well go home now :- )

p.s. which one was yours ??

Mine's the one scoring right around 5.0 last I checked. Should be obvious. :-)

I sense that a narrow understanding of the word pattern is dictating some harsh scoring. A gander at this link might broaden some voter's perspectives when voting. Pattern

oh wow, it never even crossed my mind to do a pattern (as in dress pattern with pins and shears) dan that would have been a 10 too I bet lolol

A pattern is a simple definition. Something that repeats itself at least three times in IMO

Dont get why people are being so harsh on this.
