I was trying to recreate and improve this snapshot, but I still like my first version better, in spite of the snapshottiness.

Question...here's the original; any suggestions on different post-processing takes? I tried to tone down the leaves on the left. Considered cropping them out, but then I felt like some context of the shot was lost. ???

I like your entry better than the outtake. It's more fun and engaging. The outtake feels overly contrived and clicheish. Entry got a 7 from me, the outtake would have been probably a 5. |

Not outtake, but a recently posted picture I think is related to the peek a boo challenge by Niki Conolly - a photographer I admire on pbase, from Nashville,
This is her cat Sparky in her studio.

Just to show there are always two sides :- )
I really like the clean, simple lines of the outake and would definately have scored it higher than the actual entry.

Thanks for the thoughts - they are so different, I was struggling which to enter and my wife cast the deciding vote:)

Well, chalk up another win for a clean simple "eyecandy-ish" type shot. Par for the course I guess. :) |

??
Not sure where you are coming from on this - you appear to be saying that your view is correct and ours is wrong ?
aguapreta asked for views on two very different shots, and two different views were given - surely this shows how hard it is to enter simple formulaic shot's and guarantee success ?

??? ...and where exactly did I say this?

Actually, three views were given (besides the photographer himself) - one liked the entry (that was me), and two liked the outtake (you and Moose408).
I made the observation that the simple "eyecandy-ish" photo was in the lead (2 to 1) over the more detailed shot. No right or wrong...just an observation. |

I caught this when shooting for something else (Fences), and was upset I hadn't gotten something like this for Peekaboo, lol.
I'd probablly have gone w/ a tighter, even portrait crop for pekkaboo, though. |
