This shot was as sporadic as it gets, and semi-lucky too. :)

I had something entirely different in mind for this challenge, but had a minor hardware problem.

Went to the spot for the shot I wanted and had everything setup, pressed the shutter release button on the remote, and the dang battery was dead. :/

Hemmed and hawed about hiking back to the house (100yds away, uphill thru a wooded ravine), and finally decided I would go back and get my cable remote cord. Took the camera off the tripod and started off. Then I noticed the dogs getting worked up around this big (mostly dead) tree. All of a sudden one of the dogs disappears!!! The tree had a hollow in it just large enough for one of them to get in and turn around. Could be a raccoon den. I focus on the opening and ready the flash for fill...get a couple shots as the dog comes back out.

More hemming and hawing...chimping the photos on the LCD. Yes. It'll work. Pack up and head home. :)

Very cute. I love how he or she seems to be popping out of the tree. I do like the earthy color tones but something in the processing seems a little unusual about the ground on the left and the paw.

There is a lot of confusion in the non-subject area, a vignette of some type may have helped

I like the treatment, makes it very 'illustration' like

I feel as if the natural colors of the leaves and bark were over-editted. There is a lack of textural difference between the trees and the forest floor.

Nice shot. My only suggestion might be to remove the dog's collar. What appears to be a license is a bit distracting.

decent focus and concept but a different crop probably would have worked better
