I too noticed Alamy is cracking down on releases. For example, there used to be a ton of shots of the Eiffel Tower that said "property released".

If you do not have a property release, do NOT say that you do. Sure, the odds may be low, but you're taking a big legal risk if you do. For that peir, is it a public building or privately owned? If it's private, since it's the only one in the shot (as opposed to a skyline shot for example) you should have a release to sell as RF otherwise sell it as L.
I agree with the other comments about cloning out the numbers on the other two photos. And yes, you shouldn't sell something as "L" on Alamy if it's RF somewhere else. For that matter why would you list the same picture on a site where it could sell for hundreds and a site where it sells for a dollar? |

| Here is a list of properties requiring special releases. I believe that copyright protection of structures (in the USA) did not go into effect until either 1978 or 1986, so older buildings are usually OK, if photographed from a public place (like the sidewalk). Once you are on private property the owner can usually forbid or restrict photography and any use made of it. |

I`ve would never say i had a release when i haven`t, i was just talking about the "Does this picture contain property that needs a release check box" not the Do you have a realease check box. It`s a new checkbox that puts onus onto the photographer. Where it used to be, and still really is up to the buyer to check it has all the correct realeses. Thanks dogz i`ll go L to be on the safe side.

That`s what i thought General, so my pier pic may be ok for royalty free without a realease. So say the pier is privately owned but i shot it from the beach. Does this mean i do not need a property release? |

If you were standing on a public beach that shot should not require a release.
One other thing you can do to lessen the need for a release is to clone out any business names, logos, or other trademarked elements; for example, I have some shots of construction cranes, and I try to avoid getting the name of the company in the shot, or I might cover it up.
Your shot doesn't have any relevant signs that I can see which would cause trouble. |

Hi all
I now have a D40 along with a Powershot A700. Both 6 mp. When I shoot I get files 2mb in size. What is the best program for upsizing them to 48 mb as per Alamy's requirements? |

I've always used Photoshop CS2 and CS3 for upsizing and i've never had any rejected (over 1000 uploaded). That was with images from my 5D and 350D |

I've always used Photoshop CS2 and CS3 for upsizing and i've never had any rejected (over 1000 uploaded). That was with images from my 5D and 350D |
Adobe recommends doing this in a single step using the Bicubic Smoother algorithm; it should work the same in PS or Elements. |

I already upsize them when I open the files from Camera Raw, but the best experiences I had with GenuineFractals (under OSX Tiger, need to get the upgrade for OS X Leopard) |

Snaffles, check what resolution you are shooting in, as I use a D40 and my files are usually between 5mb and 6mb in RAW. There's no point upsizing if you are starting with tiny jpegs. |

here's a question for you all. I took some pictures of some volunteer reenactors at Fort Matanzas in St. Augustine. They were in period dress and were firing cannons. There was also a park employee speaking and leading the demonstration. Am I allowed to submit something like that to stock photography without a model release? I'm questioning this because it was a public appearance and I do not have the model releases. Any info would be appreciated!

I just sold my 7th and 8th photos. I've been selling an average of one per month for the last six months. Yay! I better upload some more to up my sell rate.

Congratulations! I'm hoping the third time's the charm for me -- I'm trying to look through my collections for some really well-lit/low-noise photos ... maybe I'll follow your path and shoot something boring just to qualify. |

Yeah, I have to admit that I hate those dull images, but I kind to went with the "sure thing" maybe now I can upload more "moody" things (I just don`t want to submit teddy bears and cat pictures forever)but I guess that if they are accepting those it`s because they think that can sell...

Today is the one-year anniversary of my first sale on Alamy. Woo-Hoo! Since then I've made 14 sales on 10 images out of a collection of 200. My take: about $1500. Not too shabby for the first year out.
So don't get discouraged. |

What is wrong with me? I'm trying to upload my first 4 images. I start with RAW, convert to TIFF, upsized to around 67 MB, edited, saved as JPEG.
Then I went to check the properties of the JPEG, expecting at least 24MB (the requirement), but it's only 2.53. I rechecked the properties of the TIFF and still 67.8MB
whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy? :( |
