I would imagine it is very expensive keeping all those gators (or are they crocs?) ;-)

I'd post, but I'm busy viewing/voting on the Pet Portrait challenge. Oops! Guess I did just post. :-)

Shouldn't this wait until the voting is over on the Pet Portrait Challenge? This is no different than someone posting an outtake during the voting of any challenge and is frowned on for taking away from the challenge voting.

yes....while there is almost always a random thread sharing pet photos...this one should be locked until voting is over.

Actually, this thread is *very* different from posting an outtake because this thread is for people who are not involved in the challenge. The trouble with outtakes from people who enter the challenge is that it can easily lead to identifying who created various photos being voted on.

Still, I agree that this thread could take some attention form the challenge. If that is the highest SC priority, attention to the related challenge, then perhaps this should be locked, although I have difficulty believing a significant number of DPCers would examine this thread in liu of the challenge. IMHO this thread adds richness to the community and is not really detrimental to the challenge (and I'm proud of my "pet" that doesn't really fit the challenge) but I wouldn't be heartbroken if SC decided to table it until outtakes are posted.

I don't think this has anything to do with the challenge. None of these are outtakes. It's nothing more than a thread on pets. If I would have entered my shot in the challenge, I would have been DNMC'd because it's not a portrait. I would be disappointed if this thread was locked for that reason.

Ahhhhh. I still think it needs to be locked. But it does not matter what I think. Does anyone on SC want to give their opinion?

I have two beautiful cats, but they are usually uncooperative when I try to photograph them. I went to a friend's house and her kids have two rats, one of which is really cute. So I thought - that will be fun for the Pet Challenge. Well, alas, I should have given the rat some valium, since it was all whirling whiskers and paws. Below two of my attempts to photograph Oreo.

ETA - I just read the twisted take on this thread. So let me say, I did NOT enter the pet challenge with the rat or any other animal.

Show me some peaceful shots also if you didn't enter the challenge. It doesn't matter if you didn't enter, right? :-)

This is one of my favorite kitten shots:

They're almost a year old now but still cute :-)

One of my kittens just hauled home a live baby bunny. Trying to convince him he doesn't have to eat it.
