There is distortion at the wide end but with most types of photography it's not noticeable. Very sharp lens, would recommend it.

I love this lens and wouldn't hesitate a moment to recommend it. There is some distortion at the wide end like mentioned above but most of the time it's not noticeable, mostly only in straight on architectural shots or in shots there is an obvious pattern like brickwork or stripes. The distortion can be easily remedied in post processing. I use Photoshop CS3 which has an excellent distortion correction filter.

What you're seeing there is entirely normal for a wide lens. Especially your indoor shots, where I'm guessing you're no more than 6 or 8 feet away from that door, the distortion is going to be especially noticeable. Your outdoor shots have a little of that signature "lean in" that wides tend to do, but that's easy to fix in post if you need to. Looks like you got a pretty good lens there.

Usually when a lens is a "bad copy" it is some sort of focusing issue...like front or back focusing. The closet door shots are the sort of distortion I was talking about in my previous post...straight on architectural/linear/grid/design distortion. Do you plan on taking lots of pictures of this sort of thing? If so having a post processing program that addresses distortion issues is a must have...that is if the distortion really bugs ya.The landscape scenes look fine to me.

just recently got this lens and I love it so far. got it to replace my Nikon 18-70. I thought it is pretty sharp around the edges even wide out. shot an image outside that had lots of text on the ends and it was very sharp.
