I'm a bit disappointed in B&H Photo. When I ordered all my new equipment last weekend, I knew the Canon 10D camera was backordered. When I placed the order, I requested that all of the in-stock material be shipped ahead of the camera. I requested shipping status on the order and was told that the items would not ship until the Canon camera arrived for shipment. In the email I sent them, I reiterated the fact that I had asked for the other items to be shipped ahead and that comment seems to have been ignored. Now, B&H is closed until Monday, October 20 for a Jewish holiday and nothing will be shipping at all during that time.

I promptly responded to the return email they sent me and got a quick autoresponse that said I should resubmit my request for assistance on October 20.

They're likely afraid that you'll cancel the 10D order if they send all the other stuff and you find the 10D in stock somewhere. Seems to be par for the course with the internet sales departments from these vendors. I ordered from adorama.com and while they were cheaper than buying locally, the customer service is weak at times.

I doubt that they are afraid you cancel. their volume is just too high. Just a mistake probably or related to the fact they are going to be closed.

If you're looking for the 10D ASAP, order it from Apple. I placed my order Friday, and recieved it Tuesday w/ overnight shipping.

John, I bought my first Canon stuff from B&H and it worked alright but they weren´t the fastest vendor in business. 21 days to Sweden for the camera. But they sent all the other stuff ten days earlier.
I have bought lenses several times from Anthony and I get them in THREE! days from Singapore to Sweden.
I have also heard good about DigitalFotoClub and they´re cheap too.
John it´s a long wait but you will be rewarded.
Btw. The mailsddress to the man who helped me very much in the end: Moshe (moshel@bhphotovideo.com)

Thanks for the tip, I will never order from there. I had thought about it a few times. I was looking at buying some new lenses.

But then I would never have placed and order for that amount of many over the internet unless I had no other choice.

Luckily the local pro shop matched or beat every price I had from the net and I only had to wait a few days for the 10D.

John, I hope you get it resolved. I know when I spend that kind of money I can be a hot head also :)
