Generally better than an animal portrait, voters are sick of animal portraits.
Of course, if you have one great animal portrait and one lousy building shot, than naturally stick to your instinct and enter which you like better. |

WOW dropped .2 anyone else get walloped or is it just me?
With my 5D in for repair I used the fuji s5600 so I am totally very happy with the score.

Not just you - I just dropped by... 0.2... so at least the trolls are being fair! two 4's in quick succession. No reason, no comment. Grrrr.
Voting is a funny thing, personally I vote 4 for something that looks like an ok snapshot. Anything that looks like effort has been put in and thought has been used gets a 5 or above. I guess everyone has their own criteria though. |

With respect Frank, your voting average is sub 5 anyway...so you yourself are one of those with a more critical eye. Personally I vote anything reasonable and relevant 5 (i.e. average) and then it moves from there. 6 for competent attempt, 8 for brilliant execution and interpretation, 10 for stuff that I love...and in the other direction 4 for snapshot/blurry/crap composition, 2 not even close to relevant/DNMC/bad execution/unappealing. I guess it comes down to each person's perception of average.

Fair one - currently it is 4.999... although average vote for the Birds was 5.9 off the top of my head, but that was an unusually good challenge.
I'm trying to be nicer... and I do mostly comment on the lower scores rather than the higher ones as I feel that it is nice to explain one's decisions. Although I have been more idle on the commenting in the last two challenges I voted on. |

(This challenge really made me realize thought that I've got to get me a better copy of Photoshop, though. PS7 just isn't cutting it in the Basic challenges. Need me some of that Shadow/Highlight love.) |
