I still have a 5.3 on my Birds shot you liked, if that's any consolation. :-)

I'm looking forward to your comment on my entry next Tuesday!

Wow Jeffrey way to go!!! At this rate we'll probably lose you to the Ribbon Hawgs! :-) I don't think anyone really dislikes high scores here, just when we don't get em and reckon maybe we should have (in my case). keep it up!

How many faves? :P

One, from Steve. Which counts as a fav, but not as a fav during a challenge. He tends to do that on the shots you guys like but know will score poorly. It's nice of him. :-) And one from you, which also counts as a fav but not during a challenge. Still, very nice, so thanks! (To those wondering, the Critical Mass DPL thread is still quite active as far as advice on choosing entries.)

Awesome scores, Jeffrey! You are kicking my butt in birds - I've got a 6.44 - but I do have 3 faves :-)

Yeah, see, I have no faves. But that doesn't surprise me - you both have way cool shots whereas mine is just a pretty pitcher.

A pretty pitcher with a great score, though, LOL ;-)

I got a good comment from Deb on my birds photo - except she got the wrong breed; I shall have to educate her once the challenge is over!

I'm definitely not an ornithologist, or however you spell it. So apologize to your bird for me! :-)

Performing as I expected, but you're beating me, Ernie, so don't worry about your drop!

Posting this as a public service message...

had a bad day here today - my laptop was stolen from my car this morning. My car was unlocked, parked in my garage, and the garage door was open at the time. I put my computer bag in the backseat and went back inside to finish something up - when I got back downstairs to my car the bag was gone.

Beware of the "I'll only be a minute" mindset, such thefts can happen at any time. Broad daylight, walked right up our driveway and went into our garage, both cars there, clearly people were home. You'd think if it looked like people were home thieves wouldn't try, but apparently they do.

The day just sucks, and not in that cheery Team Suck kinda way, either. :(

I plan on going door-to-door tonight to alert my neighbors - everyone around here often just leave their garage doors open.

Yow, sorry to hear about the laptop krnodil! I once had someone break into my car, back when I had a gaping hole in the dash where I had no stereo. Not sure what the thief was looking for (the car was empty), but they busted my passenger lock.

Half of my comments are DNMC! Truly, I am misunderstood. *I* like my picture.

Very sorry to hear that, Karen. :-( I had that happen with golf clubs. Broad daylight, I had just stepped inside to get a glass of ice water after taking the clubs out of the car and putting them in the garage. Fed the cats, went back out to get the rest of my stuff out of the car and the clubs were gone, just like that. You often wish that someone would steal something of personal worth from the thieves, just to see how they like it.

Is it a domestic bird, ie a pet bird? A breed is a species in which humans have had a hand in genetic tinkering, but wild birds are just species.

Not that anyone asked...!:-)

Karen, so sorry to hear about the loss of your laptop, esp in circumstances you describe. :-(

Sad to say that's the way things are these days, sickening when it's done basically right under your nose. I saw for myself several times over the years what people will do in order to finance their habits...worked with street people in Vancouver, and I've been a PI. Even here in Ottawa it's best to hide anything worth over $5 if you're parking in a public place.

If you have serial numbers etc cops may be able to trace it, but your best bet in finding it is probably the local pawn shop.

Off to comment on everyone's photos for "Momentary Lapse of Sucking" award. Except Gordon. Since you are obviously going for the brown, I want to wait and comment on your architectural masterpiece (or is it birds in which you are plugging for the poo?)

Edit to add: I just read about your laptop, Karen. That really sucks! I'm so sorry!

Susan, i new breed wasn't the word I was looking for - yep, species is what I meant! Blame it on the codeine...

Karen - that is such a bummer. Did you have all your important stuff backed up?

Thanks. it is an architectural masterpiece - and actually a serious entry, making good on a promise to Don. 2.9 and falling, 6 comments so far though...

I put a shot in Architecture that is really sucking. I'm afraid something that I thought was so cool is not being understood. Guess I fell out of the box this week. Only have one comment, but it confirms the fact that the point of the image is being missed.

Jeffrey Great scores - I'm looking forward to your comments.

Deb You commented on my birdie too, thank you.

Karen Sorry about the laptop - the gall of some people just amazes me.

Everyone Please remind me to get off my spreading nether regions this week and get a shot ! Umm - what are the categories again ?
