| My D70s is on its 6th rollover, over 50K actuations. Time to think of a new cam while I can afford one. Body only D80 is one way to go but it would mean a new set of media cards, though SD's a very affordable. I could get a used D200 for about a $150 US more. The camera has only 8500 acuations. I leaning toward the D200. I would love a D300 but it is not going to happen in the near future. Any thoughts on this? Thanks! |

I would recommend holding each. The D200 and D300 feel like such a substantial camera compared to the D70 and D80.
And fast - boy those 200's are peppy.
Guess where my vote is... D200 |

I sold my D80 to get a used D200 as i couldn`t get on with the D80 metering.
D200 much better camera all round, very very please with it. |

| I may be biassed... but the D200 rips the D80 for ease of use... feels a lot more solid in my hands as well, but pick up both before you buy. |

Cool! Same price as the others I saw...about 10K more actuations though. Course the others don't have any of that Yanik Karma that I could sure use! I'll keep it in mind as the others were posted on another site on 01/10 and may no longer be available. Have to check.

Not sure if this post is still going or not but I just wanted put in my 2 cents. I owned a D70s, was looking to upgrade and assumed a D80 would be the next step. After reading this I looked into the D200 and found that a used D200 and new D80 were pretty much in the same price range. I ended up buying a used D200 off of craigslist and am VERY pleased! If you are debating whether or not to go new or used here was my deciding factor. The D80 has a life of around 100K actuations where the D200 is almost twice that amount. The one I bought has 9K on it and I'm sure it will take me at least 10 years to get even near 200K. This thing is AWESOME!!!!
Hope this helps! Cheers! |
