Holy crap. That's all I can say.

Who saw it? Who liked it? Who hated it? Who wants to see it again and again?

No spoilers please.

from what I've seen, and what I've heard, I have no interest in paying 10$ to see it.

By holy crap, I meant that it was the best movie I ever saw. Not that the movie was crap.

I know people will not like it because it's different, and it's shaky, and parts are fuzzy and dark, but it made me feel like I was a character in the movie and all the stuff was happening around me. If you can free yourself of standard conventional story telling that is. People told me that walked out, they hated it, or they loved it. I say if you like roller coaster rides then this is an 80 minute roller coaster ride.

Too much like Blair Witch, wich I didn't really like at all. I think I'll skip it, though it would have less impact on the TV than the theater screen.

I heard it described the same way and that is why I will see it soon...before it leaves the theater. We were going to see it tonight, but were too busy...Die Hard 4 (unrated) at home instead. <-- MUCH better than PG13 theatrical release. Anyway, I'm excited about Cloverfield.

Cloverfield was SICK. And I mean the good kind. IF you haven't seen it, see it. Make sure you stay through the credits, that's all I'm sayin.
Saw something on You Tube that may make me go see it again.
The way it was filmed definitely makes you feel like you are there and that it really was happening. Way cool movie.

WOW. What a movie! I loved Blair Witch, and I loved this. Similar techniques, but a totally different experience.

Now I can't wait for the video game. It's just made for that.

I'll see it when it comes out on DVD. I loved Blair Witch so I hope I like Cloverfield to.

I loved the film and stayed through the credits, but other than the awesome orchestral score nothing happened... could you PM me with what you saw?

Nononononono.

This is not a movie to see on a small screen. It'll lose 98% of its impact. The whole thing is feeling like you're running right alongside the main characters. On a small screen, it just won't be the same.

Blair Witch could've been spooky still on the small screen (don't know, I saw it in the theater). But this is a physical movie, not spooky.

I saw this 2 nights ago. I thought it was great, a lot better than I anticipated. There was a lot of the "it's behind you" thing going on which seemed a bit unrealistic at the end (i can't list the example here because it would ruin it for certain guys) and also with the military in the city too but I think they're my only major gripes. I have a few little beefs with the look of the monster because it did look a bit dumb, but thats an aesthetic criticism and nothing to do with the movie itself. Overall, it's a solidly entertaining movie and i remember thinking at the start "this is cool", then it got cooler and cooler and cooler still, then it went a bit meh, then it went cool, then it ended rather abruptly, but in the interests of realism I can see where they were coming from.

And after the credits was totally cool by the way. Sequel on the way perhaps?

I saw the thing at the end of the movie that a lot of people missed, and I 'heard' the stuff during the credits, but couldn't make it out, but I didn't stay until after all the credits. Are you saying there was something else?

I hope to see it again before it's out of the theaters, but I might no be able to. Can someone be so kind and pm me what I am missing?

I finally saw it before it left the theaters and am glad I did. I liked it very much, didn't think my wife would like it, but she couldn't stop talking about it the rest of the night. I felt the "acting" by the common people in the street was great and made it feel even more like you were standing next to them (taking pictures of things with their cell phones, before they knew there was much danger). Some parts were unrealistic, but others were very realistic (which I expected). So it was a great movie and I am glad I saw it on the big screen.

We stayed through the credits and listened to the overture (which was pretty bad ass). But nothing happened besides the theater lights coming up. I have an idea of what might have happened, but it happened quickly and I couldn't quite make it out.

I loved it... i find that most people who didnt like it failed to realize that it is from these peoples point of view. ( people who complained not enough monster too shakey etc)

Is it scary?

02/26/2008 02:19:32 PM · #16
OK. I looked over the IMDB page for Cloverfield and read all the spoilers (as I've already seen the movie). And now understand what happens at the end of the film and the end of the credits...what I thought it was, with a twist! The IMDB FAQ page was pretty cool, pointing out things I hadn't thought of about the movie. And I do like the talk of prequel or sequel (other cameras reocrding the same events, newsclips, backstory, etc).

Yeah it's pretty scary because in some way you're kinda thinking it could happen to you... if a really big monster came out the sea that is. But the guys act like you would expect the regular public to react.
