How can I get rid of the bright spot behind his head? Cloning ain't gonna happen.

Would love advice on this or cropping this photo or 'opening this guy's eyes'?

burn tool set on highlights,thats what id use if i couldn't use clone stamp or highlights/shadows on adjustments

You can definitely use the clone tool. In this quick 5 min edit, I cloned from the other side of the cow to extend the space under the fence. Then cloned in some of the leaves to add a bit of cover.

Definitely looks better than my many attempts. Apparently, I just need practice at what I already know...

It's really easy in this case: use the magic wand to select the white area perfectly, then expand the selection into the shrubbery, and use the healing brush tool set to "replace". Then remove the selection and at very high magnification do any necessary touch up.
