My trusted, ever faithful, hard wearing, fast shooting and all around badboy Eos3 is sitting here completely redundant. Do these have any value at all these days, or is it already a photographic artifact??

There's a camera museum here in Western Australia, in the small town of Meckering, called The Big Camera, that would probably love to have it. I'm heading that way next week, hoping to have enough time on the way home to stop in and have a look.

I left it really late to make the digital switch - my first digital SLR from the Eos 3 was the Canon 300D - and was firmly in favour of grain over pixels...but nowadays I don't think I could go backwards, even for the heck of it. I've been spoiled by instant review and my discipline on the trigger has gone haywire. Shooting stuff, processing it, scanning it....naah, those days are gone for me.
300USD sounds like a great price. There's one for that on uk ebay but I figured he was out of his mind....might be worth a list.
Here's a quick question to anyone with a 5D or better - do they feel the same as the Eos 3? That camera felt like an extension of me and I loved it to pieces...nothing else (digital) i've picked up since has felt the same in my hand.

| I can never seem to match the shots I produced with my FM2n - I think it's got something to do with the thought process. Shooting film you tend to take a lot more care about shots. And you generally take one shot and get it right, instead of taking ten and picking the 'best one' |

What about donation?
If I get that camera or any film SLR than I do love to join the photography school at my hometown to sharp up my skills.
Just a thought...: )

On paper, the 40D seems more in line with your EOS 3 (size & weight). The 5D is heavier than the EOS 3. Have you felt the 40D yet?

Briefly...it felt similar to my 30D though (or rather I didn't get that 'fits like a glove' feeling). Maybe it was the balance of it rather than the weight. I was intending to move up from my old 300D to the 400D but the 400 is tiny - was amazed they shrunk it. Am waiting on the new 5D mkII to see if that's more like it (and then need to rob a bank)

You may be waiting a while. What's the latest that you've heard?

Usual bullsh!t and faked pics...4d, 6d, 5d mkII.... 12mpix, 6.5fps burst, digic III, sensor dust cleaner I think (400D toys added to 5D to bring it up to date, hence the mkII rather than a major model change).
Fotokina is sometime Feb/Mar/Apr isn't it? I'm expecting something then...if not deffo August. They've been pushing the 5D heavily recently and dropping prices all over the shop, which usually is a sign ime...
But this is all 100% bull and conjecture...take with mandatory pinch of salt....

Don't you meant all the "40D toys added to 5D"?

| I'll take it off your hands. I still use my elan7e, but it doesn't have a pc-cord. I'd like to get something that has a pc-cord hookup from the strobist in me. |
