I'm in the market for a new monitor calibrator, and I'm looking for a recent review of the tools that are currently on the market. I've found this and this, which is basically what I'm looking for, but both articles are 2 1/2+ years old. There are new tools out there, and some of the old, well regarded tools have been consumed by mergers and acquisitions, so I'm looking for something more recent.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

I am interested to learn what you find out--I will be in the market soon, too. Some photography organizations (clubs thru employers, etc.) will loan or rent them to members. I don't know if you can rent one from photo stores that also rent camera gear or not.

Myself and my wife use the Spyder2Pro! Great value for money and seems to do a good job! Spyder2Pro.

BTW--is there a system that also measures your prints as well as your monitor? I am a wet b/w darkroom guy, just learning this stuff: I could use a transmission densitometer on negatives, and a reflection densitometer on prints to dial the process in. Or do we just get a "profile" out of the monitor calibration that we apply to the printer (assuming a printer/ink combo)?

In the October issue of PCPhoto, they review the following:

- Datacolor ColorVision Spyder2express
- Pantone huey
- X-Rite i1Display LT
- Datacolor SpyderTV
- X-Rite i1Display 2
- Pantone hueyPRO
- Datacolor ColorVision Spyder2PRO

Here's the link to the online version of the article.

I got a huey used it once.... returned it...
I got a spyder2 used it once.... returned it...
Then I got a GretagMacbeth Eye-One and I am keeping it!
There is a noticeable difference between them all, eye-one is by far the most accurate of all 3 (IMO).

I saw this, but I'm not really looking for "I used tool X, and I (dis)like it", but comparative reviews of how well multiple products work. I have the original EyeOne, which was cheap, and has plenty of features and easy to use software, but the profiles it produces are caca. I'm looking for something that produces better profiles.

Thanks. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for. Anybody else?
