Perhaps this challenge is a big mistake since we all seem to ascribe a different meaning to that word "irony".
Last Sunday I saw a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow going through the drive-through of a MacDonalds. That is my idea of irony. It happened the only time all week that I didn't have a camera with me, and that too is irony.
However many people beleive that any unlikely juxtaposition of things constitutes irony, and I guess I was wrong to punish them for that.
I regret scoring other people's photo's according to a definition that appears to be far from universal, so I'm going to go back through and bump all those photos that have photographic merit back up to higher marks, as long as they meet some kind of definition of irony, even if it's not my definition. |

isn't the rolls royce at mcdonalds an 'unlikely juxtaposition of things'?

Yes - all irony is AT LEAST an unlikely juxtaposition - but irony is more. It is ironic that someone who can afford that car (arguably the classiest in the world) would choose to eat at a place which epitomizes the lowest common denominator in eating. Hard to define, and that's why I backed off. |

Hey, the only Ironic thing I could think of is that I (the pizza man) is alergic to flour...(I mourn the irony!) Now, how the heck do ya photograph that?!?!?!

Irony, here's a little tale of irony.
An Aussie rules footballer is reported for hitting another player in the last game of the year. He is subsequently suspended from playing in the first two games of the following season. During the off season he is traded to the club he was playing when he got reported. So he ends up serving his two game suspension at his new club for, technically, hitting his team mate.
Now try photographing that!
I personally did not enter they irony challenge because I think it is way too hard to convey.

Thank you Toddh - it's good to see that others have the same understanding of irony as I do. That was certainly an ironic turn of events. |

I've never seen him, and I practically live there. Hmm. Maybe he's an early morninger. |

Depends on which BK in Kalamazoo you go to. He used to go to the one on 9th St. until they closed the truck stop next door. Guess he went there to meet up with some trucker buddies. I hear he's been seen at the one on Westnedge and the one downtown...

Sorry, folks, Elvis is alive and well here in Canton, NC. Saw him just a week or two ago, at the county fair I believe. He's starting to a get a little grey around the temples. Works for the paper factory here in town.
